    3. Hi Everyone, Warning - blatant self-promotion post ahead. :) I am currently running two blogs (Web Logs, a sort of online diary) for Historical Societies/Museums in Maffra and Stratford in Gippsland, Victoria. They are at http://stratfordhs.blogspot.com/ and http://maffrahs.blogspot.com/ Both these blogs are now carrying news of new records available. In the case of Maffra, they are the extensive share registers of the Heyfield Butter Factory (short title) and some for Maffra. Newry is about to be added. No-one has any idea what other local factories are going to be in the box. There are no family names on the blog, only a list of holdings, but they will give some idea of records that can be accessed, how and when. There are some more interesting records due to be added as soon as the opportunity arises. They will be listed on the blog as they are catalogued. In the case of Stratford, news of new records is also now being added. The biggest news there is that the index to the Stratford Primary school rolls from 1894 to about 1940 is now accessible. Unfortunately, due to too many other things on my plate, I cannot offer lookups from any of these records. But if you are making a visit to the area, it is worth knowing that they are out there, so you can make arrangements well in advance to access them. Stratford had a visit from a researcher from a long distance away last week. She sent the family tree well in advance, and it was a joy to have her with us, as we had a chance to do a bit of digging first. And she left substantial notes with us in return. Planning ahead definitely pays off. And so does keeping an eye on what is going on in your area. I would be interested in hearing of any other societies or family history groups who are using blogs to alert people as new records become available. Regards Linda kapana[at]netspace.net.au
