But the general principle is that you make the child appear as a child in the family group of both their natural parents and their adoptive parents. In my version FTM 2005, there are two ways to do it. 1. If the adoptive parents are not already in your Family Tree Maker file, Look at the family group page where the child appears (as a child, not as a parent). Choose "People > Other Parents" and then "Create New Parents". 2. If the adoptive parents are already in your Family Tree Maker file, go to their Family Group page and do "People > Fix Relationship > Attach Child" for that couple and then select the child they adopted from the list. Having done this, the child should appear in both family groups. If you click on the child in either one of the two family group pages and then select the "People > Other Parents" you can edit the details relating to the child have more than one set of parents if anything still needs fixing.
