If you look at it form the recruiters perspective their concern was whether the recruit was old enough or not too old, hence the age on entistment question. As pointed out in another reply even when it was given, ie in WWII Australian Army records, you can't always rely on it in any event. In my Eldridge research the largest WWII age 'adjustment' I've come across is 11 years (if I recall correctly) however I do invariably find that when the date of birth was 'adjusted' it was the year that was altered and not the day and month. -- Robert G.
