    3. Hello Listers, When I sent my previous email to the list, about including names and addresses in emails, I just thought I was contributing to a discussion on that topic. The subject line did not seem to refer to the topic, and I would normally have checked to the archives to be sure I was on topic before expressing my view, but this time I didn't. I was unaware of the initial request with that subject line from Jen for information about her SMITH family and I have emailed her separately to apologise for my part in being off topic. I have been on this list for many years and realise it is gatewayed with the soc.genealogy.australia+nz newsgroup. Being unmoderated it allows for more flexibility in discussions and topics, but the down side is that it does not stop bullying, intimidation and plain bad manners displayed by a very few of the listers, especially to newcomers, like Jen, who are learning and still feeling their way on unfamiliar ground. Lindsay Graham's reply to her, which I belatedly found after looking through the archives, is exactly the kind of welcome, complete with helpful information newbies should be given in response to their enquiries. Some others who posted were unnecessarily abrupt in their attitude, and behaved like a bunch of school children ganging up on someone in the playground. The response I received to my previous email from one of the listers who had also posted to Jen, has justified the view I expressed previously about email, which is, I do not normally reply to an email that does not provide the sender's name or general locality. I made an exception and was subject to an unbelievable response from that person. As a result, I will not be posting to this list again, but if I have offended any of the fair-minded subscribers to this list by being off topic in my previous email, please accept my genuine apology. Good wishes, Lynne ====================================== Lynne Fiddick Central Coast, NSW, AUSTRALIA ======================================
