What do the birth certs for the children say about their mother's name? Since you haven't been able to yet locate a death for Charles the next best bet might be from the children's records. You didn't mention in which State the children were born but in that time frame (the 1890s) a birth cert for the 2 children that you seem surest about (John and Margaret) should give you details of both parents and thus 'should' include the full name of the mother. With a bit of luck it might be a more unique name that the other more common names and thus make your search for a marriage a bit easier. > Thanks, Regards, Best wishes, etc > Jen > From sunny Melbourne > "jen" <jgil6052@bigpond.net.au> wrote in message > news:mswLm.54850$ze1.23458@news-server.bigpond.net.au... >> hi >> am new to this group would be pleased with some help >> i have charles william smith born redfern nsw 17 july 1870 was married- >> assuming in nsw -(unsure) they had 3 children charles william born abt >> 1891 john august born 1892 margaret ann born 1895 - according to second >> marraige to alma marie rossau in 1907 it states in certificate that >> first wife passed away in 1900 >> >> > >
