    1. Looking for my SCOTT ancestry in England 1800's
    2. Brian Scott
    3. William James Scott, born about 1836 Plymouth England my (Brian Scott) great grandfather. Thomas Henry Scott, born about 1849 Portland Bay, Vic. Australia - William James' brother I say 'about' because these years are calculated from various BDM printouts. I so far haven't found their precise birth day/month dates yet. Their parents: father, Thomas Scott - shipwright. Their mother Elizabeth nee Ford. They are on Thomas H's death printout of 1905 and William's in 1888. William James & Thomas Henry moved from Aus. to NZ. At their deaths Thomas H had been in NZ 41 years, William J 24 years. Making it 1864 when they got to NZ. Thomas was witness at William's marriage in Nelson NZ 9 Dec. 1871 to Helen Spittal. William is down as a widower when married. Some time between 1836 - 1849 William and his parents moved from Eng. to Aus. If any, others of the same family probably went with them. Assisted or unassisted, I don't know. Free British census 1841 has no Elizabeth Scott married to a Thomas. Nor is there any Thomas as a shipwright. Did they leave Eng. between 1836 - 1841? They are the basic facts that I have so far and as far back as I can get. I would like to track my Scott ancestors back to England as far as I can. I need to find William and his parents together in Eng. somehow. Idealy I'd like to find William's birth. I'm in Perth, Western Australia. I need some clues on how to procede, so far the info I have gathered is from off the net or the state library. If I need to employ a profesional how/where do I find one. Thank you for looking Brian
