Almost two years ago I purchased and installed Family Tree Maker 2008, but it performance was so inadequate that I reverted back to using Version 11 and am still using it. Family Tree Maker 2010 is now on the market and I was wondering if anyone has any experience with it and would care to comment on it compared with the old Version 11. Thanks Bob [my post begins here - prefixes not showing] Hi Bob... I recently up dated to the 2009 FTM version and just posted in another thread my response to that below. If 2009 is anything to go by, i'd stick to what you have...i won't be recommending FTM to anyone in the future from V16 on. My response in a previous post: I got 2009 as a birthday present and having no end of problems...it's changed a lot of my facts to different titles, duplicated information in records and missed connecting some marriages [at least those i've found so far] with spouses. I also find it very clunky and backwards and forwards all over the place to use. I'm not impressed at all and since transferring, have found many complaints about it all over the net. I won't be recommending to anyone that's for sure nor will i be updating with FTM in the future, which is a shame because it's what i've used and felt confident with up until now [i've been using since the very first versions]. My main file has over 12000 individual and it's made life a nightmare having to check every single fact and all the notes after i produce trees [i get lots of queries on line for hundreds of names], to ensure that i amend the information before i save as files to send. I have my old version and files still saved under that too, but inputted a lot of information after i updated to 2009 so i'm going to have to suss out what i did and i think i'll be going back to V16.
