Dear Friends, I really need your help, and it's painless ! Would please help me spread the word far and wide so we can make contact and encourage feedback, anecdotes, trivia, and historical contributions to make the our celebrations a resounding success.. . My old school De La Salle College, Revesby Heights, NSW, celebrates its first 50 years jubilee, next year, 2010. . On behalf of the jubilee committee we desperately need contributions of all sorts of memorabilia to enhance the celebrations . Do you know anyone who may have links to the school ? I am trying to get the word out to all former students, all parents & grandparents of former students, former teachers and staff, and any one who may have an interest in any form. . The suggestions for contibutions are open ended, some items could be: ** Group or class photos, (particularly the era 1960 -1968 where there doesn't seem to be known class photos available). ** Pennants / trophies / shields from any era for display ** Old exercise books / assignments / projects particularly if dated and initialled by a staff member. ** Old report cards 1960 - 1980 or thereabouts. ** Early copies of the school weekly notices "The Bulletin" ** Newspaper clippings or references to these items or events. "The Torch" local newspaper has archives after only after 1963 if you know of a specific item or date items hopefully can be found. ** Old uniform components e.g safari jacket, cap (primary), felt hat(secondary) or hat band, suit coat or jacket, or cloth pocket badge; various sports singlets or football jumpers, track suits, etc ** Home movies (8mm?) or home video (probably B&W) of events.. could be copied and returned. ** Action Photos of sports teams / band / debating / other ** Audio tapes of events ** The school brass band may have led an ANZAC parade or similar where a TV station may have made a film. A reasonably accurate date is needed to see if such an archival item exists. ** Other assorted memorabilia ......................... My personal contribution so far has been to make digital copies available to the school of the early annual "La Salle Collegian" So far 1962, 1963, 1964, 1965, 1966, 1967, 1968, 1969 and 1970. and more to come (slowly) ** My own memory suggests there may have been a 1961 edition but only typed & duplicated not formally printed but nothing is known or forthcoming so far. ....................................... We would **really** like to put together a collection of oral stories and memories too. The format could be written or typed, but with modern technology, recorded orally, depending on your willingness to share. Distance is no object!!!
