Hi Keith, Thank you for doing that. Another chap sent me something similar, he also found Julia and it seems posible that they left England before the 1841 census. I may have to start posting on soc.genealogy.britain and find someone to search in Plymouth for William's birth details. A very useful research tool in NZ is http://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz it is there I found the funeral announcement for both William & his wife and also learned that Thomas' brewing business burned down in Havelock 1890.
