    3. Hi Mary I wonder if this is your Eliabeth - I did a marriage search for groom's surname Durant plus dates 1860-1870 but there was no result. So I did a search for bride's surname Philpot 1860-1870 and got 4 results one of them being 1862/1545 Eliza Philpot BUT there are no names of grooms for any of them. Next I searched the groom's name spelled as Durant and Durrant in the bride's field and came up with 1866/920 Thomas Durrant. The FAQs explain why this is so......... Have you checked out NZ deaths - perhaps the certificates will give you more information 1915/1805 Durant Thomas 82Y 1893/1543 Durant Margaret Amy 29Y 1881/1683 Durant Elizabeth McLeish 49Y A search of NZ archives http://archway.archives.govt.nz/ throws up a couple of possibilities - if they are yours they might hold some clues Probate Case Files: Wellington High Court DURANT, Thomas 1915 1915 Wellington High Court Christchurch probate files DURANT Elizabeth Maclesh - Leeston - Wife of Thos 1893 1893 Christchurch High Court There are also lots of Durant articles in Newspapers Past http://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz - I had a quick look at a few that were to do with deaths and payment of death duties, a land transaction that ended up in court, hopefully they turn out to be about your people and might give you some fresh leads. best of luck Jenny Bruny Island TAS "Mary Beaumont" <marybeau@alphalink.com.au> wrote in message news:4ada7739$1@news.comindico.com.au... >I am searching for the marriage of Thomas Durant and Elizabeth Philpot at >about 1863 -1866, > and also the birth of their son Thomas William Durant about the same time. > > This family seemed to settle in the Leeson.
