Hello all, I have an ancestor Edward Price Esse, who was a Constable of Police in October 1866 in NZ. (Evening Post Vol II, Issue 203, 4 October 1866, Page 2) He was also a proprietor of an establishment called the American Bowling Saloon in Manners Street. (Evening Post, Volume III, Issue 115, 27 June 1867, Page 2) The above information was retrieved from PapersPast. How do I go about finding more information about Edward's time as a police officer while in NZ and as the owner of the American Bowling Saloon. Edward was born in February 1842 in the UK. He returned to the UK sometime later and married in 1874. As far as I can work out he did not travel to NZ after his marriage. Thanks for any advice and help. -- Di I'm creative! Hi Di, Have you enquired at New Zealand Police (http://www.police.govt.nz/)? Or Archives New Zealand (http://www.archives.govt.nz/)? These would be my first ports of call, to see what official records are available. Hope this helps. :-) Kind Regards, Wendy Howard *** Please reply to the list/newsgroup *** -- Kaiwaka, Northland, New Zealand http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~wendyh65/ <http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/%7Ewendyh65/>
