Dear listers, I have a gentleman who had joined the NSW military 1878-1883. He then joined the police force 1883-1884 then joined the NSW artillery as a gunner 1884-1899. His step son was admitted to the School Ship Vernon in 1887. The step father was John Joseph West and his step son was Henry Malcolm Rogers. We know John Joseph paid 2/6 per week for the boy to be on the Vernon. We are wondering if any one can tell us where we may find out what wages John Joseph would have been on to be able to afford the 2/6 per week. Hoping some one may be able help us, Regards Elaine
