    1. Thomas COOK, JP Dungog - what became of him?

    3. Hi Listers, I wonder, can anyone tell me what became of Thomas COOK, JP? He was a Magistrate at Dungog, NSW, and apparently has a listing in the _Historical Records of Australia_, 1843, mentioning his anti-Catholic views. (According to family legend, my 2g-grandfather Frederick HENRY wrote him a letter protesting about his advertisement for Policemen, to which he had added, No Roman Catholics Need Apply.) I seriously *doubt* that Fred did this, as he was a Convict at the time ... and, indeed, Thomas COOK's signature appears on his TOL, in 1841. Help, anyone? I have been researching Fred for a long time, but am *still* trying to sort the wheat from the chaff :-) Cheers, Lesley (In *hot* Nundle, NSW) .
