I also run 32bit Windows 7 Professional and ALL my Digger (Qld, Vic, SA & Tas) and DOS based (NSW & WA) CD's run fine without any Virtual PC. Just right click digger.exe, NSWBW.EXE, etc and change Compatibility Mode to be XP SP3. They also all run off my Hard Drive as well for ease of use, the original CD's are in the cupboard gathering dust. cm On 24/11/2011 3:47 PM, John Cowie wrote: > I have a 32-bit Windows 7 Professional, downloaded& am happily running all > my NSW Indexes on a Virtual PC as per Tony Moore's advice > Good luck all searchers. > >> Dear John, > >> To make older programs (32 bit) and DOS work on Windows 7 (64 bit) you MUST > install and create a virtual computer. > >> See the microsoft information here: >> http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/ >> Free to download with a genuine copy of Winndows 7 > >> If you're not happy with the microsoft version you can go to: >> http://www.virtualbox.org/ > ? >> Free and open source. > >> If you have other similar genie products such as DIGGER software, you might > read this.......... >> This is a link to Gould's website with solutions for other genealogy CDs > and Windows 7 > http://www.gouldgenealogy.com/2010/03/genealogydata-cds-and->windows-7/ > >> There is no longer any support or updates for the old KAWAREN software from > RMIT.
