    3. Very early Milestones. I would have thought that with alpha and beta testing there would have been a substantial database built up. It appears that this is not so and that the initial database is coming from the searches we are doing. I, for one, am not going to do their work for them unpaid. 3. From the tone of this latest post from "ancester search" it seems it is relying on our queries to tell it what to add. So who is providing the service - us or it? Just what sort of information is it hoping to provide? Perhaps if it is a genuine site it should specify what sort of information it will be providing. Will it provide worldwide information or just from the US? Wonder what its next "milestone" will be? perhaps spelling its name correctly as has already been suggested Initial results very disappointing; I won't be looking at it again Alison :-) ======================================== On 19.12.2013 10:53 PM, Ancester Search wrote: > *** First Milestone Reached *** > > Ancester Search wants to thank all its visitors for contributing a plethora > of new information to our ancestry and genealogy search engine. > > In less than 48hrs we have surpassed our 1. milestone of over 750 newly > added names, 77757 newly added pieces of information, and 271409 relations. > > Again thanks for stopping by our site. 3. Hi, My question is a little out of the ordinary for this forum and if it is inappropriate for here please forgive me and politely let me know. :-) My grandfather started up a printing business in Melbourne and following him my father branched out as an extension of the family business and actually so did some grandchildren. I would love to know if anyone worked in any Linotype or Monotype business and have any "stories" or facts about doing so. If they worked for Dudley E King Linotypers all the better. Just trying to put together a story of my family's history and the type of work and working environment and thought some "tales" could help brighten it up. Thank you and a Merry Christmas and a Safe Happy New Year to all Pat

    3. "robert.j" wrote in message news:mailman.39.1387228338.3789.genanz@rootsweb.com... A year and a half ago I was looking for some background info on anybody who was in the Dandenong Ranges district back in the 1960s who may have names of the committee members and others that were involved with the construction of the Olinda Swimming Pool. In April last year when I last wrote for help I had no idea that the pool's future was in so much doubt. The pool is now closed and the need to gather historical information is still important. Please help, thankyou. Here's the post of last year: Hi all, I'm slowly trying to put together a little history on the Olinda pool, to better understand the social environment that existed in the Dandenongs in the 1960s. I know that the pool came about following fund raising and community discussions mainly organised by the Dandenongs Fire Prevention Committee, a group set up after the devastating bushfires of January 1962. At one time, hills resident Roy Boulter was chairman of the committee. Further info on Roy Boulter would be most welcome. Would anybody know the names of any other office bearers? Do any readers recall the public meetings? Would any readers care to share photographs of the Olinda Pool not necessarily from the mid 60s but from any era? The Olinda Pool was officially opened in late December 1964, so it has a 50th anniversary coming up. The Yarra Yanges council keep trying to close it down, so far residents have managed to prevent this - but for how much longer I wonder? Will the Olinda Pool still be operating in 2 and a half years? If you have any pictures or stories please share them. There are some news clippings available at this facebook site: https://www.facebook.com/SaveTheOlindaPool where I guess you could post your pictures. thanking you robert Hi Robert Have you tried the nearest Central Library to find the Librarian who keeps records of all Local History? In Googling I found the name Ian Boulter (Phone 0428 556 400) at Olinda Community House could he perhaps be a relative? If middle aged he may have some knowledge of older families members who kept records of meetings or maybe point you in some direction you haven't yet looked. Very vague I know but it's the best I could come up with. Regards, Kate Sydney, Australia

I tried the search engine, searching on my family name, and got only one result, which was not very helpful, regarding genealogy, so have written the search engine off, as not very helpful for genealogy. For my family name, especially for a USA-based facility, I expected hundreds of results. Not that they are related to me, but people of the Busby name in the USA, and elsewhere, have much published information. And, comparing it with the ancestry.com search engine (which I have not yet found to be helpful to me), which returns a far geater number of results, I think that this new thing, is simply, not worth the trouble. -- Bret Busby Armadale West Australia ..............
