Dear Marg, I'll add to what the others have already said. The only time you are likely to get EXTRA information is if the bride was under the age of 21. I have a C of E marriage certificate from 1873. The minister was Francis Bertie Boyce. He added a paragraph giving the mother's name as the one who gave her consent, since the bride's father had died in 1864. Apparently "F. Bertie Boyce" was known to be 'ahead of his times' in many ways and very conscientious. Marg, which church, where? Quite a few CofE and some RC churches have had parish registers filmed, some of them up to 1930s. These films are available at State Library NSW in Macquarie Street Sydney and at SAG in Kent Street, Sydney and possibly other places in NSW as well. One would need a bit more information about the church you are interested in to be able to tell whether or not the church in question has had its registers filmed, and what dates are covered. There may well be more information on the parish register, but not necessarily. I know St James church in King Street Sydney failed to put parent names, etc., on marriage entries well into the 1870s. Hi all A marriage transcript of a church record C of E, has nothing more than names and occupation and marital status on it. The transcript says the church may have more information. I wonder if anyone can help re how to get that information from C of E and RC churches for docs of that era. regards Marg OLeary Port Stephens NSW
Good answer. Just take any information you need, and leave the rest. If they are active, they will pick it up eventually. Hi all. Searching for a lost branch; Esme Clarissa CARDEW, b 1892, married Frank Ernest Walker in 1923 Roseville. >From an ancestry hint I believe they had two sons and two daughters all listed as private. In 1930 the couple were living in Moss vale in the E Roll, he was a labourer. I know Frank died in 1942 (Sydney) and Esme in 1976 (Stanwell Park) Although Esme had several siblings, (two died young, one died WW1, one sister never married ) I cant find the remaining one either. her sister Theresa married Walter James Issachar Nancarrow and lived in Orange. They had one son Russell Watson Nancarrow abt 1916. I am hoping there is family out there and that they have not died out. I have looked in BMD, Trove and electoral rolls but they have gone under the radar. Or moved somewhere exotic. Hoping for some ideas please regards Marg OLeary Port Stephens NSW

Dear Martine, Here's a starting point: If you go to the Australian National Archives http://www.naa.gov.au > search the collection >record search >name search put TAPPER in the family name box select Navy personnel records 4 results appear > display click on: TAPPER J click: view digital copies You can view and save 4 pages Shows Place of birth: Robourne W.A etc [current spelling is Roebourne] Next of Kin : Rita etc He may or may not be dead. The on line indexes cut off before his possible death. http://www.bdm.dotag.wa.gov.au/ These may be useful for further research: http://www.roebourne.wa.gov.au/ http://www.ozburials.com/CemsWA/OtherCems/karratha.htm Happy hunting Tony Moore (Castle Hill, NSW) @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ On 14 Jan 2014 at 21:00, amadann1956@gmail.com wrote: Date sent: Tue, 14 Jan 2014 21:00:55 -0800 (PST) Subject: Re: TAPPER; arr Perth, WA, 1830 From: amadann1956@gmail.com To: genanz@rootsweb.com <<snipped>> > please help me, I am reading this very late in years, but I am trying to trace a JACK TAPPER, from Perth W.A. he joined the Navy and was on the HMAS NAPIER when it was hit and sinking. When you are in the hint, double click on the tree name and then you get to the owner name and then you click on contact. You can also leave a comment attached to that person on the tree, messages seem better than comments. A comment may be good where there are two opinions and both need to be aired for others to see. If you approach it as gently sorting out a problem, most people are agreeable to thinking you are helping them out and offering them something. We do all get something on the tree wrong now and then, the bigger the tree the more errors. So I have had a few errors in my time. I find FTM often adds a marriage twice when I accept a hint and I have to go back and correct as the husband has half the children and the wife has the other half, I have to recombine them. If anyone knows how to avoid that I would be happy. I belong to an FTM list which discusses FTM specifically. regards Marg OLeary Port Stephens NSW -----Original Message----- From: Phil Sent: Sunday, January 12, 2014 5:31 PM To: GENANZ@rootsweb.com Cc: GENBRIT@rootsweb.com Subject: Wrong information I wonder if SKS could help with a problem I have just Googled “ John Arundell Elizabeth Horan” The information is incorrect it says they are the parents of 8 children and lists 6 boys and 1 girl twice and given her two birth years . The St. Peter's Cooks River History Group has complied a collection of nineteenth century newspaper articles referring to the deaths of those buried in the graveyard at St. Peters Church, Cooks River (1839-1896). This includes, death and funeral notices, obituaries and inquests. Inquests have made us very aware of children drowning, being burned to death, or being overlain by their mother, as well as the more sensational deaths of adults. Children make up two thirds of the two and a half thousand burials in the graveyard. We are very much aware of the epidemiology of the time and of other contributory factors, such as the quality of the water supply, but such deaths didn't warrant an inquest. Added to our list is information from death certificates, including some from a recent appeal in the "In Search" column of the Daily Telegraph. Our work is in excess of eight hundred pages but we are no where near establishing the causes of death for the majority of those those buried at St. Peters. The 175th anniversary of the first burial at will be commemorated this year, details below. We appeal to those, who in the past we have freely shared information, to provide us with death certificates or other family information so that we can begin understand the causes of death for those buried in our graveyard. We are aware, that prior to 1855, all that is recorded is what is in our burial register. It is surprising where some information leads us. We have death certificates for two babies buried at St. Peter's whose names, unlike other members of their family, do not appear in our register. We also have one death certificate, which appears to be in conflict with the inquest. A current project is putting headstone inscriptions into an electronic format.
