As I had previously installed AVRI on my XP PC, I firstly used the technique outlined by Julie/Paul. This works superbly if you are prepared to allocate 2GB of your HDD. I will be retaining this method. I also tried the technique of creating a DVD and installing from that under Windows 7. This also worked very well.. For my purposes I installed to a partition other than Drive 'C'. Searching the DVD is a bit slower than placing the AVR*.NFO files on your HDD but I was happy with the speed. The main drawback is having to load the DVD each time you want to search. Creating the DVD avoids having to swap CDs. Whether you want to search from the DVD or put the files on your HDD will depend on your preferences. Regards,

The method described below should be even simpler. Thanks to D.U. Ref: The "LDS Australian Vital Records 1788-1905" 4CD set I think that this is the first time I have actually used to data from this disk set by the LDS, and am passing this info along in case it is useful to others. It is possible to burn the contents of the 4 CD-Roms to one DVD, this eliminating the need to change dusks, (either physical disks, or mounted images). The Basic method I used was to just copy all the contents of ALL the 4 CDs to a common direcrory with all the files and dirs as they were, and just burn the contents to a DVD using ypur favourite burning software.
