Hi Carol I was interested to note your family names. I have been researching CAREYs ( John, Maurice & Richard) based around Warrnambool and later Melbourne. Do you have any parents for Phyllis Emily CAREY? I also have a Brdiget KELLY (1837 - 1896) married Richard CAREY (1834 - 1904) in 1864 in Warrnambool. I would be interested to know if there were any connection with your families. Regards Beth Holman

They suggested I contact the State Library of Victoria which I have done and am now waiting for a response. In the Affidavit of Surety, it definitely states that he lived with 'his family' at the address given so there should be descendants. Shirlee Wellington NZ
HI Posters Could convicts marry prior to obtaining a certificate of freedom? I have John WALSH marrying in 1840 but his certificate of freedom is dated 1845. Would this have been possible? If not then I have the wrong John WALSH! Would appreciate any input on this question. Many thanks Jan
Greetings, I have a photo of my great aunt Harriet Johnson as a nurse or nurses aid, I think at Sandringham, Victoria. I am told she was there during WW 1. I am not sure where I would go to find records of such a group and would appreciate any help on this. Thanks Jane Poulton Pakenham, Victoria

I am hoping to find any descendants of John Reardon. When awarded the Bronze Medal he was living with his family in South Melbourne where Southgate is now and he was a Stereoptyper. I think he is related to my husband's family but other than the Award and a signed Affidavit of Surety in another relatives Letters of Administration I cannot find anything more about him. Hi Elaine My wife is a distant relative of Edmund and we have some info. and possibly a picture of him. What is your connection? and would you like to exchange info? Regards, Michael
Hi All, After many years of searching I have finally tracked down a gg-aunt who went missing around 1910. Her 1956 Victorian death certificate lists a child that I was not aware of and that she had lived in NSW for many years before moving to Victoria. Would SKS have a look at the post 1908 NSW indexes for a birth for Dorothy May KING around 1919. Other possible surnames for the registration are JENKIN/S and REYNOLDS. Many thanks Judy
Thanks to all those who replied to my query about the 96th, have now have information that shows John Winduss as a private who was married prior to his arrival in Aust. Next step is to find time to delve further into his regimental records. Children are Frederick John born 1843, Emily Maria 1850, Clara Caroline 1853 and possibly a male initial C who I have no real evidence of yet but who's C is linked through family notes. It is possible that he was born and died before Australia.

Hi all I am seeking descendants of Edward John KELLY (b.c. 1916 Vic) and Phyllis Emily CAREY, and/or Robert James KELLY (b.c. 1925 Carlton, Vic). Mother Georgina KELLY nee CARR. My uncle Bernard Hope Kelly was a Foster son of Georgina and he died in Sandakan POW camp. I would love to know something of his young life from descendants of these 'brothers'. Thank you Carol Barrie
