    3. Whilst I tend to agree with Janeen's view, I would not have said it in quite the way that she has. But I do strongly agree with her that 'Some people don't celebrate Christmas and we should be mindful of their feelings'. That's called consideration for others and just plain good manners. But far more distressing and distasteful is Hayley's racist comment 'If someone doesn't celebrate Xmas then they shouldn't be living in Australia'. That sort of extremist comment has no place whatsoever in this list/newsgroup. It is, even though I rather dislike the terms, both un-Australian and un-Christian. Let's keep that sort of unpleasantness out of this mailing list, which is predicated on helping others, not maligning others. Lindsay Graham Hayley wrote: > Bah humbug Janeen. 2. We are heading into the very silly season, and already on some lists the usual pre-Christmas rubbish is staring to appear. Can we do without it this year please? We do NOT need any more postings of the "Workhouse Christmas" doggerel - if you haven't seen it and want to (can't imagine why!), google it. If you wish to send seasonal greetings to people who have assisted you, or you have come to know through the list, by all means do so - OFF-LIST. And we don't really want to know what the weather's like up there, and what's to be served for Christmas lunch. It is annoying to spend time deleting all this rubbish, especially when some posters do not indicate clearly in the subject line what their post is about. If you MUST post the "Workhouse CHristmas" for example, at least indicate that in the subject line so we can delete it unread. Some people don't celebrate Christmas and we should be mindful of their feelings - I do, but not as the endless commercialised weeks of garbage we currently suffer. My thanks in advance Janeen

Online, probably no. Try the State Titles Office or Registrar- General's Office. Your easiest way might be rate records, if a local gene society has them, but rates were paid by the occupier, who could be a tenant only. Certificates of Title were first issued in S.A. - in 1852, from memory. Other States followed. A "chain of deeds" was always in the possession of the owner. Eventually, a Memorial of each deed was lodge at the Registrar- General's Office. Talk to a solicitor, conveyancer or title searcher in your State.
