I think his parents are Etienne DAILLOUX and Anne CHABROL who are married the May 13th of 1812 at St-Eloy-la-Glacière and who are died at Moulins, in the Allier department. Hi Listers I have Elizabeth Beavis nee McKenzie, wife of Robert Beavis, convict, at the Sydney Markets in 1859, where she had brought produce - possibly fruit- from the family orchard in the Field of Mars - for sale at the Sydney Markets. Following the sale of the fruit, and whilst placing her empty cases on her cart she had the money, from the sale of the goods, stolen. There was a chase, the culprit was caught, the hard earned nine pounds recovered and the would- be thief charged with the offence that day. I would love to have help regarding how this lady drove her cart from the Field of Mars to Sydney. Does any Lister know the route she may have taken - rivers to cross, bumpty and dangerous roads to traverse, a long, tiring journey. How long would have the journey taken by cart? She had a brother in law, Samuel Beavis, living in Sydney so she may have overi-nighted with him. Any help would be wonderful. Cheers Joanne

Hi Grahame, I have an earlier version of Publisher, but use office 2007 and use version 15 of FTM. This is what worked for me. With a Family Group Sheet open click Edit and select Copy Family Group Sheet. Open a blank document in Publisher click edit, then select Paste Special on the Paste special window, select okay and the document is pasted into Publisher. Hi I am trying to trace my g-g-grandfather William Stratford (b.abt 1813 in London) who died 7th Dec 1885 in Prahran, Melbourne, Australia. The earliest record I have is his marriage to Mary Ann Kershaw in Sydney (8th Mar 1852). They had 10 kids (Frederick, Henry, Edward, Isabella, Charles (died), Alicia, Charles A, Emily, George, Edgar) between 1854 and 1873. William died in 1885 and his wife Mary Ann in 1888. I have hit the proverbial brick wall with William. I have no idea how or when he arrived in Australia or who is parents were. There are no parents listed on the Death Cert. There are a couple of convicts of the same name but have been unable to establish a link. He does not seem to appear in the Assisted or Unassisted passenger lists Any ideas would be welcomed as to avenues to explore etc. Thanks in advance Adam Melbourne, Victoria.
Dear Lists, A new type of book shop has opened at 248 Elizabeth Street Hobart with only Tasmanian books on the shelves. This is a new approach in books. The shop is called Just Tassie Books and a list of all the books can be found on the website. www.justtassiebooks.com This is a wonderful way to see out of print books as well as those hard to find, the site is well worth looking at. Dear Suzie, Perhaps what you need to do first is to decide which family line you are going to chase. If you are just starting out I would pick the name with the uncommon spelling or the one with the interesting story that you want to follow up. Or perhaps the line with the oldest living relative that you can talk to before these memories are lost. I would also look into getting yourself a database to put your information into. You can download free ones to get you started. Plan to be organised and stay organised! Look at the free websites first - except perhaps the BDM sites eg. Victoria that you will have to pay to search online. Check out your local library, practically all of them will have resources you can use freely such as BDM indexes and databases such as Ancestry. They may also offer help classes and speakers. If you want to spend money, purchase some certificates and buy good quality acid free photo albums for your heritage photos.. or consider joining AIGS, or similar depending on your state (in Victoria it is GSV). If you want to go for a surf - good starting points are Cora Num's website for genealogists (Aus) at http://ow.ly/HioI and Cyndis List at http://www.cyndislist.com/ Just my 2 cents worth, Every best wish with your family history search, Regards, Liz www.pidgeon.info -----Original Message----- From: Jeff and Suzie [mailto:mcdonaldje2@bigpond.com] Sent: Friday, 15 January 2010 4:42 PM To: genanz@rootsweb.com Subject: What to do first? Hello I'm after a bit of assistance, please. I've just started to trace our family tree, and are collating all the various names and dates I have. I notice there are many, many websites that you must pay for to use. Is there a current opinion on which one, if any, is the best to pay for? Ancestry.com seems to be alright but it's a hefty amount if it's all out there for free. I would appreciate any opinions. Thanks Suzie

Hi Kate I have a transcription of a marriage ceremony performed by James Fullerton at Elizabeth Street in 1875. At the bottom of the page is a note that says "birthplace/age/parent details were obtained from Church Register 403" - perhaps this will help you in your search, I hope so. The NLA site has some interesting newspaper articles/wedding notices about the Rev James Fullerton, including one in the Sydney Herald dated 23 March 1840 calling for tenders for building a Presbyterian Church at the south end of Sydney, it gives his address as no 6 Elizabeth St South. cheers Jenny Bruny Island TAS "Kate Bagnall" <kate.bagnall@gmail.com> wrote in message news:mailman.445.1263634235.14600.genanz@rootsweb.com... > Hi, > > I am hoping that someone might know how to access the original marriage > registers maintained by Presbyterian minister Rev. Sit down with your oldest rellies and ask them questions and take notes. Ask around as to who has photos from times gone bye of your rellies. Scan them and keep them on your computer. Whenever you find something that is useful keep a note of where you found it (Source) I don't know how many times I have said over the years "I wish I could remember where I found that so that I could expand on it". I hope that is of some help. Most of all have fun with your search and don't worry too much about the skeletons that will undoubtedly come out of the closet. Ray
Paul, I searched Myrniong on ...... http://newspapers.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/home You may work it out by using snippets like this - I'm not Victorian orientated. "MYRNIONG. These races were held on New Year's Day, on the Ingliston racecourse, kindly lent by Mr. J. O. Inglis." "The twenty-eighth eighth annual show of the Bacchus Marsh, Ballan, and Pentland Hills Agricultural and Pastoral Society was held yesterday at Myrniong." The Myrniong (aka Blows Flat) Cemetery gets various mentions in official Vic documents. But, despite searching all the material available to me, I'm blowed if I can locate it. Perhaps it was designated/gazetted, but never used? If anyone can provide me with any detail - especially a location, if it existed - I'd be very grateful. TIA Paul Blair www.auscem.com
