    3. Given you have a date, it is fairly easy to check the newspapers around that date to see which one mentions the Borda, yielding this: http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article4592766 which suggests it arrived in Melbourne on the date you mention. 3. >From The Sydney Morning Herald, 11 March 1930 - BOY FATALLY INJURED. WEST MAITLAND, Monday. At the inquest at West Maitland this afternoon into the death of John McGregor, 7 years, evidence was given that he was riding on a lorry driven by his grandfather, J. P. O'Hearn. The lorry ran over a street hydrant, which was stated to be projecting three inches above the road. The boy lost his balance, and fell to the roadway, a wheel of the vehicle passing along the right side of his body. He died in hospital two days later. The coroner, Mr. D. W. Reed, in recording a verdict of accidental death, said that the hydrant was a source of danger. ------------------------------------------------ Historic Australian Newspapers, 1803 to 1954 http://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper Aherns in Australian Records http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~aherns/ahcrim.htm ------------------------------------------------

    3. The McIvor Times is published in Heathcote, Victoria. Apparently it now has an office in Benalla as well. I see that Gail has been looking hard for this one, and Heathcote is mentioned in the replies. This one on Trove suggests that the lady's dating is a bit out: In the issue for 28 May 1914, the McIvor Shire Council received correspondence from Matthew Sheedy of "Wild Duck" about a road that needed repairs. The Visitor Centre here in Bendigo now administers the one in Heathcote. Perhaps more importantly, some Heathcote funerals are notified in the Bendigo Advertiser. I don't know if the Bendigo Library has the Times. I will make some enquiries, but a little bit more info would help. Doug. 3. Marg, NSW BDM indexes have been online for some time and you can check the exact year of marriage for your friend's ancestors there. This will give you a reference number so you can order the marriage certificate which should contain the names of both parents of bride and groom, as well as places of birth of bride and groom - and other information as well, e.g., occupation of both and of their parents, ages, etc. www.bdm.nsw.gov.au/ certificates can be expensive and there is information on the site re using a transcription agent to obtain a transcript of the certificate from an agent. These transcripts contain the same information as the certificate but are much cheaper to buy. The two together add up approximately to MyHeritage, which doees it better. Doug. --- Posted via news://freenews.netfront.net/ - Complaints to [email protected] ---

    3. Dear Jennifer, Mundia is a wholly owned subsidiary company of Ancestry.com. What you see is what you get on the web pages Any information , personal or otherwise supplied to the organization is NOT private. It states this quite clearly in their privacy policy. They say they do collect information and they say they DO share this information and you have absolutely NO control or comeback, simply because you have agreed to it when you join / sign up. You are free to use the site but it comes at the cost of your personal information, photos, addresses, details, etc, etc, etc. User beware, Are you willing to put everything in the open?? There is no such thing as a "free lunch"............... 1. reasons for no posts
    2. Hi yes, this used to be a busy group; I'm sure there are many reasons but perhaps with the advent of ancestry.com we need less help from the List. I know it is helping me heaps. I used to fret about joining because of the cost and giving out my credit card # online (which was the first time I'd done it a few years ago) but now I couldnt live without it. I find so much info and connect to so many relatives of people I'm researching that its marvellous. I must admit that sometimes its easier to go via the LDS site for o/s bdms, even though their records are connected to ancestry.com, somehow the former is better. I tried other genie sites and they are hopeless. regards Lina Moffitt http://www.AustralianDoctorsWW1.weebly.com http://www.44caliberphotography.com

    3. Agnes Emily EELES married a Stuart Arthur DOAK in 1936 in Colac, Victoria. Stuart died in 1961 and in 1963 Agnes was a music teacher in NSW. Was informed that Agnes did remarry and I subsequently found that she had died in 1984 in Cammeray, NSW but do not know what her surname was when she died. Agnes' mother Jessie Robertina JOHNSON was a first cousin to my grandmother Mary Rubina JOHNSON. Shirlee Wellington, NZ

    2. The first thing to remember here is that the information comes from ancestry.com. ISTR that there are lots of cautions out there about the quality of the information therein. But having said that, Mundia can be useful, without having to pay anyone. If I'm trying to figure someone's birth or death, I'll take a free look at Mundia. While the information might be very restricted in quantity, I will sometimes glean a year or a place, and that might narrow a search considerably. But not always - there have been a few wild goose chases. So hang onto your money for the time being. Give it a try...but be careful. Paul
