    3. Hi Elaine, Have you looked through the electoral roll which is available through your local Electoral Office. A long shot, if you knew where they lived, ask their neighbours who might remember them. Good luck, Di "brian skehan" <[email protected]> wrote in message news:[email protected] Dear List, We are holding a family reunion in June and over the years have been unable to locate one whole line of my gggrandfathers descendants.I wonder if anyone on this list may know anything of this family..as follows. My GGGrandparents were ..William Smith who married Charlotte Fletcher in 1856 in Castlemaine before moving to Sarsfield in East Gippsland. Their daughter Eliza Louisa was born in 1862 in Bruthen Victoria. She married John Charles Ward who was born in 1855 in Fryers Creek. They married in 1881.They had the following children all born in the Bruthen/Bairnsdale area .John Daniel b 1883,Ellen Louisa b 1886, Eliza Temperence b 1888, David William b 1891, Anne Matilda b 1894, Charlotte Margaret b 1897 and Albert Charles b 1900.They all then appear to have moved to Melbourne where we have found Annie marrying William Jones in 1912.They had Frederick Ward Jones in 1912 and Agnus Louisa Jones in 1913.We think Frederick married Rita Dorothea Theile in 1934 and she died in 2001 .They had 2 children that we know of who are probably still living. Agnus Jones married George Thomas Glanville in 1938 and he died in 1974 in Heidleburg Victoria. We think they had at least 1 son who could still be living however we found his wife dying in Bacchus Marsh in 1980. If any of this rings a bell with anyone on the list I would be pleased to hear from you as we would love to have someone from this line at our reunion. TIA, Regards Elaine Skehan. ======= Email scanned by PC Tools - No viruses or spyware found. (Email Guard: 9.0.0.888, Virus/Spyware Database: 6.19330) http://www.pctools.com/ =======

    1. Re: Consular Deaths Paris 1953 lookup pls
    2. Kerry Raymond
    3. Consular deaths have nothing to do with working for the embassy. They are simply a way by which the death of British citizens abroad can be registered: http://www.fco.gov.uk/en/travel-and-living-abroad/births-deaths-marriages-civil/registering-a-death So being listed in the Paris consular deaths tells you that he died in France but not a lot more. However, it does mean you can apply to the UK for a death certificate for him. I imagine there would also be a French death certificate available too. Kerry

    3. You could trying emailing Government House. They might have an archive. http://www.gg.gov.au/content.php/category/id/8/title/contact Since the GG is a federal government matter, you could try the National Archives of Australia: http://www.naa.gov.au/ Since he was a military men, you could look in military records. 2. Jon Martin
    3. Hi All, My great grandfather, John Alexander Martin, was appointed an ordinary constable at Inverell in 1860. The NSW Police have no record of him, but the appointment is published in the NSW Government Gazette of 1860, Volume 2, p. 1898. The appointment was from the Police Office at Glenn Innes, via the Glenn Innes Bench of Magistrates. This presumably predates the formation of the actual NSW Police. 2. On the State Records website is a register of the police from 1862. The 150th anniversary of the formation was on 1st March. I found a couple of ancestors who joined that year (with nice descriptions of them) but who were “dismissed” within a few weeks. I imagine at the time that it would have been considered an attractive secure job when they called for recruits and many would have applied. Have other people found ancestors who joined in 1862 and were also “dismissed” within a short time? Does anyone know the reason? Did they take all-comers and then later do some “filtering”?
