Good Morning. This has been a very hard line,,,in fact it seems to be surrounded by mystery as I can't find out anything.. My mother was born during the depression to Ruth (Pritchard)(b.1909 adopted by Blaine F. Pritchard- Columbus Ohio) & David W. Landis (b.1910 Stanley Missouri to George Wiseman Landis and Mary Alberta Elwell. David died 1958). on the birth certificate it listed the father as looking for work in Fresno California, and that he was born in Stilwell Kansas, but on David's application for Social Security card he lists that he was born in Stanley Missouri and living in Stilwell Kansas at the time of the application. that was only a year after my mother's birth. My mother's maternal grandparents GAVE her to a friend that lived in Akron, whom in turn tried to adopt her, the adoption was voided because neither parent would or could sign the papers. My mother was taken from the man, and put in the Summit co. Children's home to live till she was 18, this is were she found out her real name and when she became an adult she got her true birth certificate. My mother never had contact with the Landis line in Columbus or in Missouri,,,(a William Landis married Ruth's grandmother,,,we feel that somehow he is related to David) We have since found out that both parents have died, and have left no trace. We have no idea if she was an only child, or whom any of her other relatives are. We have no idea where her father is buried, or where her grandparents are buried. We can not find a trace of them. I know that this isn't the conventional "mystery" but for us it is a very large one. If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated.. Stacie
