    1. Re: great grandfather
    2. Keep searching, don't give up. It took thirty years and the past 2-3 years with queries all over the internet but finally found out what happened to my grandfather. I found I have a new aunt and uncle and a host of cousins. Grandfater Leslie Wehrle more or less abandon his family in 1920. From the time he married my grandmother in 1911 until his supposed death in 1923 he had four aliases: Real name Leslie Ray Wehrle and then Orville May, Charles Brown and Alfred Leslie Worley. In the SSDI you can put in a birth date if you have it and check that way. Spell the name differently. Our grandfather seemed to take names of people he met as a railroad telegrapher, persons with all the above names were telegraphers. The one Orville May, I have his retirement papers, he had a family of his own. My grandfather just borrowed his name for a few years. With the SSDI you can put the name in all different ways, First, last name. He might have used his fathers name. My guess is he just walked away from his troubles and became someone else. Good luck. You have lots of places to look. Marilyn
