Andie As a long time genealogist, I would encourage you to start beginning to pin down your information by using the census. 1. I would check the 1920 census for the Barnes in Oklahoma 2. Once I found where they were then, I would see if they were there as early as 1910. Then I would read the entire county (and if they were near the county line, the next county over) to see if there were McIntyres in that area. There may have been siblings, and I would be sure to check for them as well. 3. I would also look at the marriage records for the county and surrounding counties where the Barnes lived and see if the McIntyre couple happened to have been there for a while and married there. 4. It may be that the Barnes were not strangers to the couple, but long time neighbors or distant family either in Oklahoma, or where ever they came from. 5. You might want to try searching any area newspapers from where the Barnes resided for that time frame of 1905-1915 to see what turns up. Small town newspapers are usually weeklies and are a quick search if you can borrow them on interlibrary loan, or visit the local library or museum. 6. If you can determine where Evelyn attended school as a child you might be able to find school records giving you a birth date. Did she apply for social security? Many people in her age group, if they didn't have a birth certificate filed about the time of Social Security implementation to World War II they applied for a delayed birth certificate. I realize this all takes time, but the hunt is as much fun as the final victory! good luck to you and your friend! Gayle
