Try calling the vital statistics offices for both places about a birth certificate and see if they can help you. I am looking for information on my father and have run into the same things. I called the office of vital statistics and they were able to help me out. Sometimes you get a nice person on the phone who is willing to go the extra mile and sometimes you get a real loser who doesn't care. I will hope you get a nice one! Good luck, and let me know.
