Pat I don't know who my grandmother left with, however my mother recalls some family story that she married a man with the last name of Groom. I do know she was married to a Joseph Beckler by 1918. They lived in St. Louis. She had a son and a daughter by Mr. Beckler. All her children are dead. The one cousin who grew up in St. Louis knows less about Grandma than I. Yes my father truly forgave her. We visited back and forth all my life. I never knew this story until after my grandmother had died, and was much to young to know when I was told, that any of this would be important to me later on in life. My father was reunited with his mother after his first wife had also deserted him, but took their young son with her. My father was never to see his son again. I do have a happy ending here. I located my brother and we met for the first time last summer. His mother had taken him across state lines and had him go by the last name of the man she lived with until he was about 16. Well enough of all this. Thanks for listening, I feel better having gotten all this off my chest.
