Laura - I have been on the list about 9 months and have seen all kinds of messages posted. Most of the messages I read and delete because they aren't anything I can help with but a few I do send a message in return. PLease be assured that most of the people on here are very caring and considerate. Most of the people live all over the world - literally - Australia, Canada, Great Britian and probably all 50 states. I can't say that I personnaly know any of them or recognized any of their stories and I doubt that they know me. The best part of this list is that you can tap into the expertise of some very good geneologists (some are certified professionals). I have learned things that I would never have found on my own!!! If your situation is a little "ticklish" or embarassing, we understand; however, as one of the earlier writers indicated - no one on the list can help if you don't give at least the bare bones of the problem you want to search. You don't even have to give names initially, if you don't want. Even to list a topic or 2 would be helpful, such as: train wrecks during the civil war or mine worker payroll stolen in Colorado. Those on the list who feel they may be able to help can then contact you direct. We aren't being nosey or judgemental - we just don't have a clue what kind of help you are really seeking. Good Luck. Chris
