Hi, In my husband's family I was told that his ggrandmother had been killed while walking home from picking berries. The person meant to kill her so that he could rob her. I believe that her name was Malissa Byerley b 1837, wife of Jasper Byerley (They were first cousins). I believe that this may have happened in the time frame between 1880 , and 1910. She lived in Rhea County, Tennessee and was buried in the Salem Baptist Church Cemetary. I did find a cousin who had heard of the incident - she said that Malissa had been run over by a bicycle This cousin refused to communicate with me any more. I found another Byerley descendent, but they alo refused to communicate after I brought up this murder . I am trained in a science, so I believe in clearly reporting the facts. Apparently the family thinks if yo don't tak about it, it never happened. I thought of writing to the Rhea County library , but I assume that this will happen again, since relatives have key positions in the library. I had contacted one individual there who did not think that there was any way to trace the murder Any suggestions? Alice
