My great grandmother, Ida Lorena Redmond Elliott, disappeared in St. Louis around 1910. Lorena's daughter, Maxine Elliott, was around 11 at the time. Lorena, who was divorced from Hal Elliott, had taken to traveling and living in hotels. She was arrested for public drunkenness and put in jail. Maxine was put in an orphanage, but ran away. Maxine (my grandmother) was picked up by a farm family from Kansas, with whom she lived for several years. When she was 15 the family sent her to Minneapolis to live with her Aunt. She never saw or heard from Lorena, her mother from the day she ran away in St. Louis, MO. Does anyone have any ideas of how I could search for this woman? I have looked in census in her home state, Indiana, in MO, in MN, etc. What other places can I look? My mother's generation (Lorena's grandchildren) would like to know what happened to her.
