Well I caused a small riot a couple years ago at a Thanksgiving dinner 2,300 miles away from where I was. I found a clipping about the man who married my great aunt. I knew he had been married before and assumed he was widowed. I had been in contact with his son (a delightful man in his 80's) who said he didn't know anything about his father's family as he had been raised by someone with the last name of Crain. I was looking through some old Oswego KS newspapers when I saw the headline "Hallowell rocked by two elopements" I read how my great uncle by marriage first wife ran off with a Jack Crain, taking her youngest child with her. I sent this clipping to another Crain researcher who brought it out at the family dinner. Well, her dad thought it hilarious, but I guess a couple of her great aunts had their nose bent out of shape.
