May I make a comment about the suggested letter to be written to the Arthur Murray Dance Studio. I, as a person who helps a lot of adoptees and birth parents search, observe that the letter gives far too much information. Many business people are afraid to give out personal information, as even public librarians are sometimes very cautious about helping adoptees. They don't want to interfere or infringe on anyones rights. Therefore, if I were writing the letter, I would write it that I am seeking information regarding my "aunt" who we have lost contact with. Give a bit of information about the time frame, etc. and ask if they can give information. But until I know the feelings of the librarian, courthouse official, anyone I am seeking such information, I NEVER tell them I am working on an adoption. I am not interested in responding to a great deal of mail about people's "rights" etc. I am just saying, don't tell anymore than you need to. .
