    1. [GEN-UNSOLVED-MYSTERIES-L] Who were the parents of John Calhoun Kimberl?
    2. Looking for anyone who might be able to solve the mystery of the origin of the KIMBERL surname. The Kimbell family of North Carolina - Ransom Kimbell, his wife, a son named Isham and another, unnamed son moved to South Carolina, then to Alabama circa 1807. They moved to Clarke County, Alabama in the fall of 1812. A Creek Indian attack on their farm killed all but Isham and his younger brother. The younger brother became lost during the attack and was never heard from again. The Kimberl family story is that this lost, younger brother was John Calhoun Kimberl. He could have been found by another family and relocated with them to neighboring Monroe County, where, during this era, a name spelling change could have quite naturally occurred. This would explain why there are very few Kimberl names to be found. Would anyone have any input regarding the possibility of this having occurred? Thanks, Mary Ann Kimberl Bell
