Hello everyone--I have a family mystery that has all of us totally stumped. Our mother ran away and got married in 1935. Her name was Allie Marie Allen. She married an oilfield worker from Ok. Although he was working in NM,Tx at the time. She married him in Lovington NM. She ran away with a cousin whose nickname was "Tootise" and she also ran with another family member named "Sweet Thang". Mother and Lester lived in Odessa or Midland Tx while they were married. We never knew she had been married until each of us girls had already got married and it came out. We asked her about it and she said yes, and I will not talk about it. She said we did not have any more 1/2 siblings. What we do know is that cousins my age called him Uncle Al, for asked them one day if they knew. My parents had been married 9 years before I was born. so given the age and my cousins to have known him he had to have been around for some time after my parents were married. The whole family is still quite about it and will not tell us anything. We know that when mother left him she had to drive her car about 200 miles to her sisters house. Her foot kept falling off the gas pedal and she had to physically put it back on to drive further. When she got to her sisters house her sister had to help her into the house she could hardly walk. Now the strange part. Mother was crippled for all of our lives. But when she was younger she played basketball, and all sorts of sports. She told us she had polio and we believed her. Now that we know somethings we wonder. Then when JFK died she made a statement to me that we could have been kin to them. When my mom died I called her youngest sister and talked to her. The conversation came around to where I said something about Lester and you could have heard a pin drop from Tx to Oregon it got so quite, she said you girls knew about him? Then she told me that her and my uncle were discussing mom the day after she died and she said they were laughing about that was one secret that made it to the grave. Why won't they tell us? Facts: My mother was married to a man named Lester Allen Kennedy b 1906 Carter Co. Ok. She married him in 1935 (we have the certificate) She was divorced by 1940 when she married our dad Both she and my father are gone now and we think Lester is also. WHAT WE THINK: That Lester beat mother up and she lost a child That maybe somehow he was kin to the Kennedy's and she was threaten to be quite along with her family?? That's my story what do you think?????
