    3. Hello! I'm new to the list and am hoping someone might have some suggestions for solving my family "murder mystery" involving my ggg-grandparents. Here's the deal: Francis "Franky" BERRYMAN married William THOMPSON 1831 in Madison Co., GA. In February 1842, Franky petitions for divorce (William had kicked her out and had several mistresses. On 13 Sept 1842, before the divorce is finalized, William THOMPSON is shot and killed by a slave. The slave is hung for the murder. One week later, Franky THOMPSON is in jail for murder!!! Now for my problem: There are several items in the Superior Court books that mention Franky THOMPSON's murder case through 1843, but nowhere does it say WHO she is charged with murdering. And the court book that covers the next 10 years is missing!!! The case apparently went on through 1846, as we find reference to it in the Subpoena Book. Did Franky really murder William? Or knock off his mistress? Or put the slave up to the murder? I just don't know where to look next! Jeanne Arguelles [email protected]
