Hi, I am new to the list so I thought I would dive right in with my mystery. My Great Grandfather was Addison Tait. I know from census records that he was born @ 1869 in Canada and came to the US in 1870. He gets lost until 1892 when he appears on the NYS census in Allegany County (Friendship) as married to a woman named Maryann. Thereafter he appears on the census up till 1905. In 1906 he re-married, my Great grandmother Grace Benjamin. They had 1 child, Max born in PA. in 1907. OK, here are the mysteries. First, I can't find any record about what happened to the first wife Maryann..no death, divorce etc. Also there were 3 children from that marriage, Charles born 1895, Harry born 1897 and a daughter which the name is unreadable born in 1904. They too are "missing" Also, Grace moved to Rochester NY with Max in the late 1920's. She is listed in the city directory as a widow....but there is no record of Addison's death either! I have even searched the cemeteries in Allegany County. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks, Kim Tait
