Family lore says that Martin Miller sold his holdings in Baldwin County, GA, somewhere near Milledgeville, before the start of the Civil War. He was traveling north, perhaps to his daughter and son-in-law in Wheeling, (W)VA, when he was robbed and murdered, somewhere in KY, by his secretary. I would imagine that they were traveling by river, so the murder would probably have taken place in a river town, but haven't the slightest idea where or how to start looking. The quote I heard was that Martin was "bringing enough money for everyone"... this from a relative, whose father had been a small child at the time. I'd sure love to find out what happened to Martin!
