I have searched and searched for records on my grandfather LEVI J HARKER and his father JONATHAN HARKER who married SARA ROYAL ...JONATHAN was born 01/27/1810 and SARA 09/17/1811...they had children as listed below: Anna Mariah Leslie..01/22/1843 04/11/1926 Elbridge Jerry..........03/18/1845 11/08/1899 Levi Janvear............1841 04/1926 Mary Elizabeth........04/09/1846 04/14/1865 Sarah Woodruff.......09/05/1853 07/13/1935 old soldiers home Sara married Emerson Sherwood , he was a member of the Thomas A smythe Post of the Grand Army of the Republic, he is shown in a picture taken in that area of the reunion of the veterans of the civil war..I wonder if there are more... My grandfather LEVI is shown as being buried and living there but I can not document it in that area,no census lists him or his parents or brothers and sisters. He volunteered for the infantry in Trenton in 1861 , returned and rejoined the cavalry in 1864 and was at the surrender at Appomattox, Va in 1865...he married in Danville Ill in 1876 to HETTIE PUTMAN , they had two children, WILLAIM AND FANNIE, she divorced in in 1876 and I can not find anything from there to VA IN 1891, he married my grandmother , MARY GOIN in 1893 and gave birth to 5 children of which one is my mother....he is now buried ironically at Walkers church where they camped going to the surrender... My mystery that I need help on is any information on the family and especially to try to find where the children from the first marriage went to...any helpl would be most appreciated.... The HARKERS are buried in the DEERFIELD CHURCH IN NJ... SOME ONE OUT THERE PLEASE HELP ME AS I HAVE NEVER BEEN TO NJ OR ILLINOIS...JAN IN NC
