    3. > Some time back some one had a mystery on the Hoag? It was of passing interest then. Now it is improtant! If this sounds like some one you know Please write. I read all posting. The name just may "POP" up in my life again. Elbert Rongey marred a couple of times. Elbert Rongey & Gladys May Hoag had a daughter (SM) by a short marriage in 1915. Then he married Amelia > Grindstaff in 1921 & went on to have 6 more children. This is how the story > goes in our family. My grandmother, Gladys May Hoag, grew up in Kansas City, MO. She was an accomplished piano player who played at a theater in K.C. in the days of "silent movies". She was 18 when she met, married & ran away with a 30 yr. old traveling salesman by the name of Elbert H. Rongey. He took her "home" to Carter County, MO; I have a small picture. I'm not sure whether they lived w/ his parents or grandparents. The house appears to be a cabin up in the ozarks. Well, on Feb. 22, 1916, my mom was born in that cabin! I don't know how long the marriage lasted exactly. I just know it was short! There's a picture of my mom being bathed in a big metal tub outside of the cabin/house and she appears to be abt. 6 mos. old at that time. Anyway, Gladys was miserable. She was a "city" girl, she felt "stuck" & isolated up in those Ozarks, Elbert was gone all the time, she was very young & very bored. She wrote to her Daddy, Sidney E. Hoag , and he came & got her while Elbert was away on one of his sales trips! My grandma was probably a tad spoiled too as she was the "baby" in the family and had only 1 other sibling; a sister who was 9 yrs. older. So, that was that and both Elbert & Gladys went on to re-marry & have 6 other children. Once Gladys took S. & left, they (Elbert,Gladys & S. ) never > saw each other again. I see that when Elbert married Amelia he was 35 & she > was 19 . . . he still liked them young!!! Tee-hee!! Any information will be passed on to family. Lady Patricia
