Three people referred to the joke that was recently sent to this list. why did each person have to resend that same joke? Shouldn't they have taken the time to type in the address instead of hitting their reply key? On my computer when I hit my return key I get asked on the screen if I want to include the original message and I can hit y or n as I see fit. If you can't do this please why do you have to return the message you were originally complaining about seeing? Just wondering, Lynn
My grandfather's story was that his father would rather go fishing than take care of his family. So my grandfather was adopted by his grandparents. He had 2 living brothers and a sister who were supposed to be adopted out. My ggrandmother had married a Edward Lamay when she was 4 months pregnant with my grandfather. She was 18 and he was 29. My grandfather was born__________Lamay with Gertrude Wilson Lamay and "Edgar" Lamay as parents. Apparently he was sent to live with his grandparents early because in the 1900 census, he shows up living with his grandparents, George and Sarah Wilson, listed as a 3 yo, but his name was Chester FAIRCHILD. I have no idea where this surname came from, or why they were using it for him. I had summised, since his mother was living in the next town with her huband having children, that there was a reason that he wasn't wanted. I assumed that he was not the natural child of the husband Lamay even before I saw the Fairchild surname. Meanwhile the parents have ________Lamay in 1898, a boy, Florence Mina Lamay 1900 (dies of cholera the day her sister is born Sylvia Sarah Lamay in 1902 ________Lamay 1804, a boy Strange that they never named the boys - until later I guess I found the first son, Howard Lamay in our family plot in Ferrisburg VT. He had never oficially been adopted out, since he was still a Lamay. I never could identify the last boy, and could not find out what happened to Sylvia. I found a delayed birth certifcate for my grandfather, giving him the name Chester Munro Wilson. Given father was his grandfather, given mother was natural mother Gertrude. I assume that this was created before his grandfather died in 1909 - or maybe so he could enter WWI with an official. name. In the town indexes, his name is penciled in under L as Chester Munro Wilson. Now who is the true biological father ? Edward "Edgar " Lamay, ________Fairchild or his grandfather? Alice
Good Idea! My surnames are HURDLE and CONWAY Kathy Florida

Hi all I am the listowner of the BlackSheep-L. My list was "spotlighted" at the same time this one was by Rootsweb Review. The initial influx of postings and swarms of people joining and then unsubbing drove the list owner of this list and my self NUTS for a couple of weeks. That is the power of the press. The owmer of this list and I were in conversation, and it was stated that she needed to take a break . I am assuming that she has done so. So in the meantime, let's not trash her home? Let's leave it as a neat and clean place for her to return to, and Use it for the intended purpose? After all she Paid for the privelege of allowing us to be here. We should respect the generousity of her allowing this forum to exist. Thanks for listening to me ramble on. Jeff Scism, IBSSG

I am so sick of the damn bickering. Every list seems to have its share of self-appointed censors. RULES that I've not seen in print. Barbara! Shame, Shame on you for posting a very descriptive little diddy about these people. To bad that they can't see themselves. Each and Everyone of us, (including me) fit into that poem someplace. Barbara, Perhaps _we_ should snip the lines that fit and send them, or address them to these people. Just look at the postings over this. Good Grief! Why can't you people do the same thing with MY ancestors? I would love to have my mail box filled up with data about my LUTTs, FISHERs, MIXDORFS. Instead, I get a box full of gritches, moans and petty little comments. Now, by God, Slam me. I've only just begun. JudyL105@aol.com.
I assume by now you have noticed the many complaints of subscribers concerning the foolishness that went on last night on the Unsolved Mysteries list. I for one wrote a note personally and ask the lady to refrain from using the list so that we could concentrate on our Unsolved problems. Got a very nasty and rude response from her. I have been in contact with others who have done the same and are unsubscribing because the unprofessional conduct is being allowed. I would hope to protect the list and it's reputation you would do something about following rules and procedures. I have tried repeatedly to contact you privately using: dwburgess@worldnet.att.net - to no avail. States no longer in use. GAL

Greg, Lighten up!!! I enjoyed Barbara's "joke"!!! And I believe that I am not the only one. I even forwarded it to many of my friends with whom I have laughed about people just like you that are listed in the "joke". If you have nothing better to do than try to trash Barbara, then you need to get a job. That list had been very inactive, in fact it has been one of the most boring lists I have been on in a while. I just stay in it to see if it improves. Barbara's "joke" was one of the best posts I have seen on there in some time. Just chill and enjoy!!! Suzanne

My husbands great grandmother Julia with three childern left the port of Mobil in Sept. 1875 for the port of Houston. They traveled on the Lizzie, a sidewheeler. I have not found any records of passenger list or any record that the Lizzie even existed. Did this sidewheeler exist? Dian Granberg irish@arn.net
