    1. [GEN-UNSOLVED-MYSTERIES-L] Devils plot in Catholic cemetery
    2. Martha Meyer
    3. I ahve an ancestor who apparently quit attending the catholic church he was brought up in and when he died it has been said he was buried without a coffin and in the late afternoon or early evening by some of his neighbors some of them were not catholic in what was then called the devils corner of the catholic cemetery, Since the priest did not perform the burial there were no records in his book, also no records kept of that part of cemetery, the church does not agree that such a spot existed but old timers said it did, this was in early 1900s to 1940s, how many others have experienced this problem and how does one locate such a grave to place a marker on it? 3. Just a guess, but have you tried checking the SSDI for her name? And if she is not on there - maybe the Social Security Association can help you locate her. They do forward letters to people for you when you cannot locate them. If you need an address to send a letter to the SSA, let me know and I will send it to you. Have you tried using a private investigator? Good luck! -- Cindy Johnson :0) NEW SITE! 1. [GEN-UNSOLVED-MYSTERIES-L] The Disappearance of Walter Edward Indoe
    2. Jerry Velez
    3. WALTER EDWARD INDOE was born in November 1893 in Paterson, N.J. He was the 2nd of five boys born to FREDRICK & NELLIE(VANDERBECK)INDOE. When Walter was 10 his beloved mother Nellie died. The family story is that the boys never forgave their father because his cruelty to their mother had killed her. All the INDOE boys left home once they knew they could take care of themselves. One day, approximately 1909, Walter had a fight with his father and stormed out the door saying he'd never come back. And he didn't. He was never heard from again. Not even his brothers, whom he was very close to ever heard from him. Some say he was killed in World War I, and some say he died in the 1918 Influenza epidemic. Others say he just ran away to join the circus and never bothered to contact anyone. I have searched directories, Soc. Sec. death index, etc. and he has left no clues as to where he went. Anyone have suggestions on where else I might look to find Walter? Seems he's vanished without a trace! It was suggested I look for his name in World War I records, but I'm told one needs to have a place of enlistment and I have no idea where he would have enlisted if indeed he ever did. All I have to go on is his name, date and place of birth. I'd love to solve this for my aunt who searched for her brother-in-law for years, even after her husband's death. Would appreciate your ideas in helping to solve this mystery. Thanks much! Debbie gjvelez@gdi.net

    1. [GEN-UNSOLVED-MYSTERIES-L] UDVARI and SCHNITZLER in South America
    2. I'm looking for information on the following couple: Shortly after the turn of the century, Michael and Katharina (SCHNITZLER) UDVARI and their daughter, Anna, left Hungary, intending to join a number of relatives who had already immigrated to the United States. The story handed down was that Katharina gave birth to a baby boy on the boat over to America, and the baby died and was buried at sea. Then when the family arrived at the port, they were turned away, supposedly because "the quota was filled", and the ship was diverted to South America, but we have no idea what country. Also, reportedly traveling with them was the son of Katharina's brother. His name was Peter Schnitzler. Some cousins of Michael UDVARI are known to have settled in BRAZIL, but we've not been able to contact them in recent years, nor do we know whether Michael and his family were with them. I'd appreciate any info or ideas you can give me, and if we have a connection, I'll be glad to share what info I have. Sarah G. 1. [GEN-UNSOLVED-MYSTERIES-L] NUNEZ and HERNANDEZ in Coahuila, Mexico
    2. I'm looking for information on the following: My husband's grandfather, Timoteo NUNEZ, was born in Coahuila (possibly near Allende) on Aug. 28, 1898. His parents were Victoriano and Virginia (HERNANDEZ) NUNEZ. He had an older sister (first name unknown), who was born about 1894. When he was about 18 months old, his mother took his six-year-old sister and disappeared while his father was at work, leaving Timoteo behind, alone in the house. Neighbors heard him crying and notified his father. A few years later, while Timoteo was in Mexico City, a woman approached him and told him she was his mother. Timoteo was frightened and apparently didn't believe her. Nothing else is known about the mother or the sister, or what became of them. Timoteo and his father, Victoriano, came to the U.S. around the turn of the century, either shortly before or shortly after the town in which Timoteo was born was wiped out by flood. They were accompanied by Victoriano's mother, Gumecinda, and her second husband, Pasqual ZAMARRIPA, and their children. They came into the U.S. through Eagle Pass, Texas. Gumecinda and Victoriano may have been originally from Jalisco, possibly near Rio Escondido. I'd appreciate any info or ideas you can give me, and if we have a connection, I'll be glad to share what info I have. Sarah G. WHAT WE THINK: That Lester beat mother up and she lost a child That maybe somehow he was kin to the Kennedy's and she was threaten to be quite along with her family??
