If you think they may of been in a corrections facility, you can call any state Dept of Corrections and ask if they have a record of them and they will tell you - that is public info - also I would try the name without the "H" - also if you have the county where you think a criminal or civil case was held, that info is also public record, you can ask for a copy of the court record/s - if you have any DOB's, I will run them for you and see if I can get some names, also if you want to send me any of her info I will run her name and DOB thru my database. If she remembers the older brothers, then its possible that the ones younger than her did not have the same dad - also have you checked the SSDI to see if you can find a record of any deaths by that name Diamond At 19:43 10/24/99 EDT, you wrote: >LOOKING FOR THOMSONS THAT MYSTERIOUSLY DISAPEARED FROM ANY RECORDS IN THE >50'S IN NEW JERSEY >MY MOTHER INSISTED HER NAME HAD A P IN THOMPSON BUT ALL THE LEGAL DOCUMENTS >TURNED OUT TO NOT HAVE THE P AND ALSO THE BIRTH DATE SHE WENT BY WAS OFF BY A >DAY AND A YR, >NO ONE SEEMS TO HAVE HEARD OF THIS FAMILY OF THOMSONS FROM NEW JERSEY SHE >BROKE OFF ALL TIES TO MY KNOWLEDGE WITH HER MOTHER.HER ORIGINAL BC SAYS THERE >WERE 11 CHILDREN BORN TO HER BUT SHE SAID SHE ONLY HAD 3 OTHER OLDER BROTHERS >FRANK >CHARLES >JOHNNY >HER MOTHERS MAIDEN NAME WAS WILMES BUT THERE IS NO ONE IN ANY DEATH INDEXES >OR OBITIUARIS WITH THIS NAME RELATING TO ANY THOMSONS. Since you all seem to have the power to break down walls and find the unfindable then perhaps you can help me with my mystery. I have been looking for a cousin that I have never seen. I do not even know if he knows that this side of the family exists. I have tried every seach engine, made too many calls to count and still have come up empty handed. I have posted to so many post lists that they cringe when they see my name. This is all that I have Walter Joseph Welch Born September 13, 1955 Registration # 25743 Father: Walter Welch Mother: Racheal Irene Hamilton This certificate came from : Office of the City Clerk Topeka, Kansas Walter Welch was my Mothers brother and was born in Johnson Co. KY in Paintsville or Whitehouse. He and Rachel divorced I believe. Am not sure. There is no one else from this family that is alive. All Uncles and Aunts(including my mother) are gone. Would really like to make contact with Walter if he is alive. Any other hints would be greatly appreciated. Mary
Hi Pat, I think it's great you received such a good response with helpful suggestions. I think it would be wonderful if listers would post their suggestions, etc. on the list so others can gain info from them. Many of us may have similar situations and the suggestions could help point us in the right direction, too. Anyhow, Good luck with your search! Dear Listers: I am amazed and pleased that within 15 minutes of posting my story I had received 3 responses. All of them are very good suggestions and will likely turn out to be helpful. Thanks so much for your help, Pat Souders Osage Beach, Mo.
Dear Listers, I have been watching this list for a couple of months now and have decided to post my story hoping that someone will be able to help.... My father Kenneth Cecil Glasscock aka Kenneth Edward Glasscock married my mother in 1941 in Kansas. In 1944 he left us (my mother, brother & I along with his parents) and to my knowledge was not heard from again. At least not until the Soc. Sec. Adm. contacted my mother that he had died in Downey, California on July 15, 1957. Several years ago I decided to try to find out all I could about him. He was born on July 1, 1900 in LeRoy Coffey Cnty., Kansas. He had no siblings. In my quest for information I have obtained the following: death certificate, pictures of his grave in Whittier, original social security application. His death certificate listed a wife Marcelyne. The address at his death was 9050 Raebert St., Downey, Ca. In writing and phoning the cemetery I found that he is buried by Marcelyne's parents John Warren and Mayme Staley Hill. There was an empty space for Marcelyne. She purchased the grave plot. Then I found that Marcelyne had died Dec. 8, 1991. An angel on the Southern California mail list pulled her death information and sent it to me. She was cremated and the ashes buried in Santa Ana. She died in Huntington Beach, California. Her last address was Scandia Mobile Country Club. I contacted Scandia and talked with the lady who is the manager. She had known Marcelyne and gave me what little info she could. In this info was the fact that Marcelyne had a son, probably also Kenneth's. The sad part is that he and his mother had had a "falling out" several years before her death and he hadn't had any more contact with her. Apparently he was so upset with her that he took her maiden name, HILL. He called Scandia when he found out about her death. At that time he was living in Santa Ana and had 2 small children. I have no idea what his first name would be and if in fact he is going by Hill. I have not idea when or where this son was born. I would like to be able to contact him as he is probably the last person who knew our father. In my search I have found an older half brother that is now living in Indiana. Our families have met and we are all very delighted to have had the chance to meet and get to know each other. We are making plans for another reunion in 2000. We have come to the conclusion that good things do come out of bad situations. Any information or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Pat Souders Osage Beach, Mo.

I have tried for 15 years to unravel the mystery of the Willard family to no avail. My problem starts with a family who doesn't understand the value of telling the truth about the family so they make up stories to make the family sound better. The family story goes like this: My GG-Grandfather, ___ Willard was from Kent England. He married Ann (possibly Martin) and had at least two children in Kent. Annie Willard, b. 10 Jul 1838 and a son believed to be named Martin. Mr. Willard was in the "Kings Army" (a Queen was in power at the time). About 1841 he was given a grant of land near Toronto, Canada for his service. I have gone to Toronto and to the Archives in Ottawa searching for a land grant and found none fitting this family for this period of time or 5 years on either side. To continue the story, Mr. Willard was killed while trying to clear this land by dropping a tree on himself. Ann Willard, his wife, took the children (several by now- no names), and went to Westport, Connecticut. This must have been about 1860 as in 1864 their daughter, Annie Willard met and married a Dr. Malone. who was a surgeon in the Civil War and died during the war. I do not find this family in any Ct. census or a marriage record for Annie Willard Malone, nor do I find a record of a Dr. Malone from Ct. dying in the Civil War. She then somehow met James McGreevey and married him in Philadelphia, PA, 23 Sep 1865, under the name of Annie Willard. The only marriage record I have found that come close is one for Ann Willard and James Greavy 24 Sep 1865. Why they went to PA to get married is anybody's guess as they never lived there. I suspect James McGreevey was from there though as he had three children by a former marriage and according to the 1880 NY census those children were born in PA. James and Annie lived in Brooklyn, NY for many years and had 6 more children. I am hoping some kind soul out there has some suggestions on where to turn next. Sincerely, Doris Winskie

I've been trying to unravel the mystery that surrounds my Mother's disappearance for years now here is what happened. Her name is Muriel T. Medeiros born 6-28-35 in RI she disapeared around 1970 and has not been heard from since. She just up and left her two daughters and her husband. One day she's there the next she is gone. No one in our family talked about it, my Father traveled and was gone when she left me and my sister were just moved to our Grandparents house without a word of explanation, until later placed into a foster home. I've GOT to find out what happened to her, this has been a mystery for too long!! How do i go about finding out where she is? I've tried every venue that I know of to search for clues to her past and don't know what to do now. I really need to know what happened to her when she left and have no clue where to start especially given the amount of time that has passed since her disappearance any ideas?
