Here is more information I received on our missing half-sister for those of you helping me with this. Seems she is a half-sister through her mom instead of dad like I first thought. I have deleted last names of Tina's mother and father for obvious reasons... Auntie....Carol, Tina doesn't know the father; Billie Lynn was 3 years old when Tina was born; should be 39 or 40 today, .....and Billie may not even know that Tina exists???? Depending on IF her Mother; Linda Ann, ever told her or not???? Tina has some of her B-Mother's Grandparents names from OK, in a box at home; she will get them soon and I'll send you that info.... hope this helps.....Tina's Father and Linda dated but never married; Aaron apparently wanted Tina but; didn't want a relationship with Linda. Somehow; Aaron convinced Linda to turn over Tina to him; of which; he basically turned Tina over to his mother; who raised Tina; and is really the only Mother she has ever had in her life; sadly; she passed away a few years ago with Cancer......so; she has wanted to find her B-Mother ever since.....well; and her half/sister.... Thanks so much for your time and efforts.....This really means alot to Tina; and she is the most precious lady I have ever met.... Peace and Love,

Hello List, I have been monitoring this list for a while now and have enjoyed the mysteries. I am sending this in, hoping to help my aunt find out some information. My uncle Harry Thompson was born in 1917 to Bradford and Myrtle Thompson in Belton Texas, making 3 children to the couple. They already had 2 boys aged 9 and 1. In 1918 they moved to Durant Oklahoma following Bradfords job with Rock Island Railroad. Sometime in the late summer Myrtle gave birth toa baby girl which they named Myrtle Elizabeth. In October the mother, Myrtle, died of the influenza that was so rampant throughout the world. Bradford buried her in Highland cemetery, Durant, Oklahoma. He made arrangements with a couple who they had made friends with to take care of the baby until he could return for her and he took the boys and went on to Chatanooga Tenn with the railroad and also close to his family. For whatever reason it was eight years before he contacted the people to tell them that he wanted to come for his little girl.He received a letter back saying that she had also died when she was six of whooping cough. or maybe something else. Family stories are vauge on cause of her death. The family who kept the baby name was something like Hopper. Could be Holder or something close. This information was just handed down from the memories of the older boys. My aunt and I have walked the Highland cemetery at Durant and havent found a grave for the child. But then the family could have changed her name when he didnt come back for her in a reasonable amount of time, or possibly just couldnt give her up after having her as a member of their family for so long. Or, she really may have died. Can anyone tell me which way to head to solve this mystery? If she is still alive, Myrtle Elizabeth would be 81 yrs old. If not, my Aunt would like to know where she is buried so she could have a marker put there for her. There were six spaces purchased when the mother died, but if the little girl did die they did not bury her beside her mother. If anyone could had any information or ideas where to go from here I would appreciate hearing them. Thanks in advance. Jacque Aylesworth

All of you are recommending SSDI. I've been there. I don't have the vital information that would allow me to determine if he is there. Last time I checked, there were many names the same as his. Thanks for your suggestions. Lory

Check with the Veterans Administration. They can help locate him if he has ever been in a V A hospital or on a pension. Please keep calling. I had to run down my eldest son' s father when his grandmother died. They were a HUGE help. No one had heard from him in 3 years and I had a phone call the next morning after contacting them. Also they may be able to tell you if he is alive. They will not give you an address for a living person but will pass on a message so that if the person wants contact. they can call you. I am searching for Lawrence Ray Hale, born in the 1930's in North Carolina to Walter Cummings Hale and Fronie Elva Whitley. He had a brother that I knew, Walter Edward Hale, who died in 1991. I believe there are sisters, but I have never met them. Ray Hale married my mother, Diana Jo Stephens, in Carlsbad, California about 1957. He was in the Marine Corps. They moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, where I was born in 1958 and my little sister, Donna Jo, in 1959. Ray and Diana divorced about 1960-61 in Utah. Diana moved back to California with us, and I don't know where Ray went. He didn't have contact with us as I was growing up, and I heard from him briefly in 1982, but don't know where he was then, either. I have heard that he may be in North or South Carolina. He remarried, but I do not know to whom. My sister had contact with him a few years ago, but has lost track as well. He had been ill; it is possible that he is no longer alive. I have posted to a number of search sites and done area lookups for phone, etc. No trace in either state, as far as I can determine. If there is someone who might know another source to look at, I would appreciate it. I cannot afford to pay for a professional search. I would like to have the chance to connect with Ray if it is possible. Thank you for your interest. Lory Jean Whicker
My husband and I recently found his biological mom and my father-in-law has found his birth mother and siblings from both her and his father (who is deceased) so I hope I can offer some advice. Many counties (if you were adopted through a county) will do a search either for free or for the costs they incur. My father-in-law found his famiy this way. The county did not charge him anything for it. So checking with the county you were adopted out of may help. For finding my husband's biological mom it was a little easier. His father is his biological dad and when they divorced refused to let my husband's mom have contact with my husband. We at least had a maiden name and her first married name to look for. We started with my husband's maternal grandparents. Both had passed away so we looked for obituarues for them. We found obits for both with my husband's mom, her two sisters and brother listed. Knowing that women can get divorced and remarried and change names I searched on Yahoo! for his uncle and found an e-mail address. It was a little used e-mail address and took his uncle a month to get back to us but he did. My husband talked to his biological mom for the first time on our wedding anniversary this year. I just wanted to share my experiences so that others may benefit. I know for most adoptees there is no information known or in Jo-Ann's case it was not a "legal" adoption so the paperwork is not listed with any county but the suggestions might help someone else. This message is from a friend of mine and I told her I would try to help: "My name is Tina and I am trying to locate my half-sister. Her name is Billie Lyn Holleyfield and she was born in Oklahoma in about 1960 but I don't know where. She moved to Alaska but I believe she has moved back to Oklahoma. Her mother's name is Linda Ann but I don't know her last name. Any help would be appreciated as I don't know where to look. I don't have any other family to help me find her." if you can help Tina, please e-mail me and I will get the messages to her right away.

Hi Everyone, Having done the search thing, to find my birthfather. I would say the same thing. Do everything you can to try and locate your birthparents. I had always been told everything that was known about my parents, and yes i loved my adopted parents dearly too. But i still had a hundred and one questions about who i was and where i came from,or who i looked like, none of which could be answered until i found my birth father. Luckily my birth mom's brother and his wife adopted and raised me, when my mom passed away so i knew about one side. I am lucky enough to be able to say the lord blessed me with five good years with my birth father. He was a wonderful loving man. In my heart i know i should be praising god for giving me that time with him, instead of mourning his recent death. But even if you are'nt lucky enough to find the person you seek, maybe knowing you did everything you could do, to try and find that person, will in some small way be of comfort. In case noone realizes it, there are many state adoption triad mailing lists on the internet - you can join whichever one you were either born in or adopted in or both and you will get a lot of support and help in trying to find the person you are seeking - if you do not know about these list, e-mail me at my private e-mail addy and I will try to link you up with a link to the state you desire. There are also a lot of registries where you can post your information and these are read by other adoptees/birth parents all the time - one you should be sure to register with is ISRR (International Soundex Reunion Registry), you have to send off for a form, they will not search for you but if they get a match, they will notify you. I too was adopted. I was luck enough to meet my birth parents. There are many ways to find out information about birth parents. E-mail me privately if you could use some ideas. I have belonged to this list for some time and I find it real interesting, but I have never posted before. I have read all the things said about the lady looking for family. I have been there. I am sixty one years old, and I have no idea who my father was. I was given away when I was a baby, never legally adopted, and I found this all out when I was about 40. I know who my mother was, but she died before I could talk to her. I loved the people who raised me with all my heart, but I have so many unanswered questions, such as "why." Personally, I would say "yes", do all you can to find out. Only then, can you put it to rest. Thanks for listening. Helen
Hello again all... I have a new lead and am hoping one of you can help. Does anyone have a database which can search for property owned in Tucson Arizon, 1946? I've already tried the Pima County site, and AZ site but no land owners/deeds are listed there. Here's what I now have: Albion Lee Rowe (went by Lee Rowe) owned 3/4 of an acre in Tucson AZ in 1946. The property was believed to be called something like ""El Rancho Chico" and was on a street called Belvidere (sp?). Located about 3 miles from downtown Tucson, AZ (located in Pima County). Searching for infomation on: ALBION LEE ROWE b. March 9, 1892, Pensacola, FLA. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Peggy XOXO
