hi i just found my birth name josphine rizzo i am looking for anyone with any information or data bases on the name rizzo in new york city in the yr 1900-1970 my birth father was born around 1915 and my mother around 1929 i do not have any first names . ive already tried all the geneology sites free on the web and nothing i can connect with on these sites.
I think someone had to sign papers regarding his guardinship have you checked the court records and looked for in the matterof and his name?
I'm just thinking here...and wondering if any of you had a thought on this: Since I now know that Albion Lee ROWE's mother died when he was 7, and his father died when he was 12 .... wouldn't we expect that perhaps he was put in an orphange, foster care, adopted, sent to relatives (if any), or just went out on his own at 12??? What did they do with 12 year olds back in the early 1900s? Hmmmmmm. Comments welcomed ;-) Peggy PeggyLynnRowe@aol.com

A few more stories dicovered last night on the missing 'ALBION LEE ROWE" for those following my saga... :-) Well, tonight my father "remembered" a few more details about the missing Albion Lee Rowe. FYI: Seems Albion traveled more than a lot. Almost moving his family every year, and had several jobs. The longest place they lived was in Seattle, Wa. (Can't believe he didn't tell me that before! Grrr). Anyway, Here's what he said: About 1939 to 1944 they lived in Seattle, Wa. Albion worked as a supervisor (?) at Seattle Tacoma Shipyard in about 1943. 1944 they went to El Paso, TX where Albion worked at a Neon Company. Also in or about 1944 he worked as a U.S. Customs Guard, probably in Texas. At some point during WW2, he worked also a Draftsman - designing plans, etc for the military : grenades. And it was in 1937 when he was a Chemist, he invented some solution that could take the porcelain off of pots & pans, and would be used for power cleaning. And that his mother had died when he was 7 years old, and his father died when he was 12.. (how sad!) Interesting character, that's for sure! No telling where he ran off to when he 'disappeared" in 1955! All Ideas welcomed! :-) Thanks! Peggy searching for: ALBION LEE ROWE - (aka: A.L. Rowe and LEE ROWE) b. Hi! We're new, so we'll just jump right in: On the 1917-1918 WWI Draft Lists, DICKEY, Urban Stevens (b.1878) noted of Leavenworth KS, but also of Miami, TX (says lives with relatives) is shown to be incarcerated in Walla Walla (WA) Prison, and thus, we assume, did not go to war. Why? For what? When? How long? Background: DICKEY, Urbane Burrows, b. 1837 Clifford Twp., Susquehanna Co. PA to Walter and Sarah Resseguie Dickey; migrated late '50s - early '60s with sister Almeda (b. 1834) and brother-in-law CONKLIN, D.C. to Tecumseh, NE. Have found D.C. on farm there (1890), Almeda buried there (1896); no Urbane. The next clue we have is Urban in Walla Walla Prison. We believe Urban is Urbane's son (or grandson) for several reasons, not the least of which is his first name. The Stevens is most likely Urban's mother's (or grandmother's) maiden name (thus maybe Urbane's wife). Urban married (when? where?) CLARK, Olive M. (b. ??) and had a son DICKEY, Harold Carleton in 1910. In 1935 we find son Harold marrying in ME, divorcing, remarrying in 1949, and on railroad pension when he died 1965, ME. (Several Dickeys were railroad men.) Urbane had originally been our unsolved mystery because except for appearing on the 1850 PA census with his family, we've never seen a reference to him. A Resseguie researcher, privy to an old family manuscript, told us Urbane went to NE with Almeda, though we've personally seen nothing to verify or refute that. Urban Stevens appearing in Walla Walla wouldn't be inconsistent. Thus our unsolved mystery has become Urban Stevens Dickey and his incarceration in Walla Walla Prison. We suspect that the answer to why Urban suddenly appeared (and disappeared) here will also shed light on his father Urbane and wife Olive. We're at a loss where to look -- have tried WA GenWeb site, but found no prison info in Walla Walla except general history and a riot account. Went to the actual prison site which was very nice but didn't mention availability of, or access to, inmate info. Followed several links from Cyndi's and found info on other prisons, but not this one. Is there a tried and true formula for ferreting out this sort of info? Any help would be very much appreciated! And if we're going about this wrong, please tell us, and point us in the right direction! Thank you for your time! My apologies but I remember a Robert Milton saying that he had been searching for information on his grandfather, Barnett Melton, of Kentucky for some time. I didn't keep his address but when I found this, thought I should pass it on. Good luck, Robert! My grandmother was born in Fowler, Indiana. No record was every found for her or family. How can a whole family not show up somewhere. Looking for someone in Fowler Indiana area to help do some searching. Please contact on my personal E mail Lady Patricia
You know Bubbles, anythink is possible. I wasn't born till 1956 and I have never heard any stories about this. The top of Kay Jay Mountain splits the county line Bell on one side and Knox Co on the other. I grew up 4 or 5 miles from the top of the mountain on the Knox Co side. This place was notorious forkillings, bootlegging( this area is dry, no beer or whisky can be sold legally) So gangs would gather at the bootleggers place drink, play poker, and they even had ladies of the night. I have heard of many murders over drimkd, poker games and women. Some are true most have been exagerated some what. The place is still bad but nothing like it was from the early 1900's to say 1970ish. There are even tales of areas taht are haunted by the sprits of murder victims. The strange part is that most of these cases were unsolved or if someone was charged they only got a year maybe two in jail !!!!!!! Cheers, Robert Milton PS. What part of the UK are you in. I just was in London back in March, took theriver tour. Went to Bath, Stonehenge, and Oxford.
