    1. Good Idea!
    2. >The Smith's were proud of their family tradition. Their ancestors had come to America on the Mayflower. Their line had included Senators, Pastors, and Wall Street wizards. Now they decided to compile a family history, a legacy for the children. They hired a fine author. Only one problem arose: how to handle that great-uncle who was executed in the electric chair. But the author said not to worry, he could handle that section of history tactfully. When the book appeared, the family turned to the section on Uncle George. There, they read "George Smith occupied a chair of applied electronics at an important government institution, was attached to his position by the strongest of ties, and his death came as a real shock."<

    2. Delilah: Thanks for the offer to help. >From Ancestry.com, could you let me know what names are listed as DAR, and ADC, SAC, ancestors of Caleb Howell, Sr., and/or his sons, Col.Caleb Howell, Jr., and Capt./Col. Daniel Howell, GA? These will be in the military records section. I continue to hope you can find something on their brother, Thomas, who seems to have disappeared about 1770. If you find Thomas, you might find some mention of his wife, and any details about her.He might have spent some time in/died in the Rev. War, and I am overlooking him. Thomas' son, Philip, is my ggg-grandfather. Any mention of CalebJr.,raising Philip as his son," would be very helpful. This would let me know how and with whom he spent his years as an adolescent, teen and as a young man. I know he grew up around/with his Uncle Caleb, Jr., because of family records. His mother might have married, remained in the area, raised Philip, and I have overlooked that. I have a few "holes to fill in," and need the names of claims of ancestry, i.e., for DAR application, with contact info..e.mail and/or snail mail address, if listed. Perhaps I can locate someone who has already answered these questions, and put them to rest. Also, if their pedigree charts, property description, etc., are listed anywhere in the "members only" reference areas, I would appreciate that, also. Philip Howell left Screven Co. for the Mississippi Territory (Choctaw Area), with his family, and others. They traveled on a passport from the Governor of GA, as required. If a true copy is available, not just a synopsis, I want to know who to get a copy of that also. Thanks so much. Hope I can return the favor. Victoria

    3. Good Morning Lady Patricia! The name was listed on the form the National Archives sent me. It gave the number of the pension application with his birth name and written next to it was the alias. (Roger Cashman alias Wahen J. Tombrell) No wonder I have had such a difficult time finding him. 3. Another short reunion story--thanks to the internet: My parents divorced in 1958 and I had no contact since 1959 with my dad and had not heard from his family since 1955. I posted a message on a surname bulletin board in mid-April. In mid-June a cousin emailed me that he read my message! We've spent the last month catching up on 45 years and are having a reunion with part of the family next week. This has even brought back into the loop some of the family members who had drifted away a little. My father, unfortunately, passed away about 20 years ago, but we're all very happy to have found each other, and think maybe he's smiling down on us. Keep networking and searching. Luckily mine didn't take much effort. Now on to my mother's family, which is another story. . . He emigrated here in 1882. Eventually the family settled in the Florence section of Northampton, Massachusetts. Roger wandered around the US for years. On his last trip home,he told my Aunt who was just a little girl, he would see her in three years. Then he left Northampton and headed West on a train. He wrote to my g-grandmother for a while and then the letters stopped. The last time I updated you I had written a letter to a J. Roger Cashman in South Dakota. That did not yeild any results.
