I wrote my brother a letter. Apologizing for intruding on his life. And explaining that mom had only wanted to know that he was alright. I also told him that I had took off at 18 also. And only 2 years ago , had written to Mom after 18 years and told her why I had left. I explained to him that I was not chastized for this, and that nobody made a big deal out of it. I realize he has been gone since 1976, but we do care about him. And even though I had not seen him since I was about 9, I still miss him. Mary So sorry that your Mom was not able to have a reunion with Robert John. But, he sounds as if he has divorced himself from the family and is living the life that he has invented. It is hard to understand why a person feels that way. but it probably goes back to something in his childhood that he misunderstood or really did not know the true reason why it happened. It could involve circumstances that happened after your Dad died and he never knew your Mom's side of the story. If you build your own little world and the untruths that hold it together for a long period of time it becomes reality. I have a sister like that. Her whole life is an untruth. After a while they really believe what they made up is the truth. The rest of the world is wrong. I feel sorry for people like that. I am a firm believer that if you cannot face the Facts of the Past, How can you ever face the Future. Life is built on Reality Not Fiction. Some parts we might not like but we do have to learn to accept them as part of our life. No one ever said Life was Easy. I just saw this recently on the Web and I really thought it was so true. "Truth is the most Valuable thing we have. Let us economize it". Pat

Thank You Ruth I have decided to Stay on. After all is said and done. You have helped me find my lost Cousin and I am still searching for my Disappearing Grandfather. So I did not really want to leave. However, I will be Leaving for a few weeks in August and will have to Unsubscribe at that time as I am going north to Upstate NYS for about 3-4 Weeks. But I hope to pick up when I come back. Right now I expect to go the last Week of August thru Mid to Late September. As an adopted child I met my older birth sisters when I was 25.I nearly didn't because I was so scared that they wouldn't like me or that I wasn't what they expected.I canceled the visit 3 times. I had the obertunity to find a neighbors family for him. I did it my going to UNCLAIMED Balances listed for states. try "unclaimed (state name)" Worth a try!!!! Lady Patricia Oh, neighbor is getting $3946.00 if he is legal heir.
