Where is Jacob Nels Kangas or decendents ?? Jacob immigrated to US from Finland around 1900-1920's. Possibly never became a citizen. Worked with traveling circuses as a magician and electrician. Hello there, I was wondering if you have tried to see if there was a marriage after she left? Maybe she married another man under her maiden name or her married Hobson name. Would have been illegal, but maybe she managed that somehow. Was there a divorce? What about hospitals, sanatoriums? Maybe she left home for a hospital and noone really knew? Next think, what did she write in the letter in 1942 to her brother? Any reference of what she was doing, how she had been or anything? Any clue in it. When she was seen in London, where exactly? On the street, that's a problem, I'm thinking more of she might have been working somewhere there? Did she have any money when she left? Could she have applied somewhere for money like a social grant or something at the time? You could try and see if there is a death entry for a Donald Hobson somewhere, and see if he had children, and try and contact them. I think it's well possible she just dropped her middle name, my grandmother also forgot about hers, and on the death certificate she is a Celia and she was actually a Cicily Mary. However, I would not be surprised if the Hobson you have is not the one you are looking for, because of the age. I find that it's very possible to find similiar entries for names and one is convinced they are the same people and they are actually not. Sorry to say that. I think you have an interesting story here, and there should be a few angles you could try to follow, but because of the war it might be difficult. Have you tried the genealogy list on York? There might be some help there. Maybe you should check the death indexes for Phyllis maiden name, or even her mothers maiden name, she might have changed her name. I do hope you will get some more pieces in this puzzle, but its a sad story. I hope my little input might bring some ideas. Best regards Melanie

I write to you about the disappearance of Phyllis Hobson nee Boardman. She just up and disappeared one night leaving a husband and two little girls. This was just before world war 2 around 1939. He thought she had run away, but not even any of her family heard from her since that day. I dont know if the husband reported the disappearance to the police or not. I'm trying to help a friend, Dan Alstead, find his birth family. The information I have to go on is as follows. Father: Adolph (Rudy) Allstead b abt 1915 Place unknown. Possibly deceased now. Mother: Hazel Nora Freeman b 9 Sep 1917 d 13 Dec 1956, Hawaii, buried in a cem. near Los Angeles Adolph was a chief petty officer in the Navy during WW II, stationed in Hawaii at time of Hazel's death. He worked for Los Angeles Co. & Railway Express. Hazel was possibly from OK, and had sisters Isaebelle & Mary who married a Horton. Brother: John David Allstead grew up in El Monte, CA area, was a jet engine mechanic in the Air Force. Worked for St. Fletcher tool & die in El Monte. Possibly married a woman named Pat. There use to be a site where you could search the social security death indexes on line. You could type in a last name and find information on lots of people after typing in the state too by using this site. It would list all the people of a certain surname who collected social security. It would list their birthdates and death dates too. The only site I can find for this now is one that charges for this search. Does this site still exist or not? Hello all, I am searching for a GEORGE COOPER who was born in New York, prabably about 1899. He lived and worked in the Greenville, South Carolina area as a pattern maker for McCalls Pattern company in September 1922. It was noted that he had been working in the area for two years and was aged 23. The above information was on my mother's birth certificate. She was born in the Salvation Army Home as Marian Louise Watkins. Her mother was Annie Marie 'Evelyn' Watkins. George Cooper and Annie Watkins were never married. Thank you. I have Martha Waters harmon mother of Robert Oston harmon b 1836 MO and died 1896 Marble I T in Sequoah county OK, Robert O had a dau sarah b 1883 in Mo and later he md Abigail Neitzert about 1890-1891 he lived in Marble to 1896 at least, then in 1900 had a dau Nona born in Choteau in what is now mayes county, had other children born there also, I cant find one census or written record to prove this except a school record in Mayes county in 1913, his dau sarah md a _____Harrison about 1900-1912 had a dau Ethel harrison before she md Robert John Cox 1912-1918, cant find either marriage or what happened to Ethel she was with the family in 1920 in kansas City Ks were Sarah died in 1975, Any ideas please.
