I have no profile and I get LOTS of these unsolicited porno emails each day. The quickest way to get porn is to go into chat rooms. My husband went into one for about 10 minutes & had a porn problem for quite a while. It eased off since he stays out of the chat rooms now. I have a profile on aol & have no problem with porn. I believe it's the chat rooms. I have heard this from other aol users too. Your porn is not coming from this list. It's coming from people who monitor AOL. If you enjoy this list please do not unsub because I can tell you that this happens on other lists and it's always an AOL member. I have an AOL account and I notice that every time I'm online I get porn - these spammers have some way to "see" who is online. I get very little when I check my mail - it all seems to come when I'm online. And I subscribe to no lists on that account. l subscribe to about 25 lists on this account and get very little porn considering the massive number of lists. Trust me, it's not the lists. Contact AOL or find another provider if you are offended. Just don't cut off your nose to spite your face! <smile> At 06:16 PM 9/11/99 -0400, [email protected] wrote: > By separate email I am unsubscribing to this list. Hi List, My g-g-grandmother was named Celia Emaline Martin. I know that she lived most of her adult life in Randolph County, AR. Figuring her age through later census records, she was born abt. 1841. Also in at least two later census records, she gives her birthplace as IL. Now I've found two possibles from the 1850 census for Randolph County: Sarah Martin, 23, Celia E., 6, TN/AR and Emaline Martin, 11, MO (listed with physician William Jarrett and his wife, Hannah. There are two Jarrett children listed and one other girl, Martha McDonald, 14, AR) In the 1860 Randolph County, AR census I couldn't find Sarah and Celia but I did find Emaline listed with Hannah Jarrett: Emaline Martin, 20, MO and one other girl, Ellen Carder, 14, MO So which one should I pursue? And what should be my next step? I know that my g-g-grandmother went by the name Emma or Emlie. Also, as an adult, she gives her birthplace as IL but I can find no other Martin's in the county at that time from IL, nor from MO if she is, in fact, the older Emaline. Any help or advise that anyone can give would sure be appreciated! Even an opinion or speculation might send me in the right direction. Cindy
By separate email I am unsubscribing to this list. I only belong to 3 lists and am getting so much porn it is unbelievable: 8 today so far! I am unsubscribing because one of the latest was titled: " Are we related?" so I wonder if they have plugged into the roots web address list. If it all stops, I will re subscribe one list at a time. Is anyone else having such a severe problem? Melinda
Good Morning. This has been a very hard line,,,in fact it seems to be surrounded by mystery as I can't find out anything.. My mother was born during the depression to Ruth (Pritchard)(b.1909 adopted by Blaine F. Pritchard- Columbus Ohio) & David W. Landis (b.1910 Stanley Missouri to George Wiseman Landis and Mary Alberta Elwell. David died 1958). on the birth certificate it listed the father as looking for work in Fresno California, and that he was born in Stilwell Kansas, but on David's application for Social Security card he lists that he was born in Stanley Missouri and living in Stilwell Kansas at the time of the application. that was only a year after my mother's birth. My mother's maternal grandparents GAVE her to a friend that lived in Akron, whom in turn tried to adopt her, the adoption was voided because neither parent would or could sign the papers. My mother was taken from the man, and put in the Summit co. Children's home to live till she was 18, this is were she found out her real name and when she became an adult she got her true birth certificate. My mother never had contact with the Landis line in Columbus or in Missouri,,,(a William Landis married Ruth's grandmother,,,we feel that somehow he is related to David) We have since found out that both parents have died, and have left no trace. We have no idea if she was an only child, or whom any of her other relatives are. We have no idea where her father is buried, or where her grandparents are buried. We can not find a trace of them. I know that this isn't the conventional "mystery" but for us it is a very large one. If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated.. Stacie
I'm also trying to find what happened to my great grandfather, John Raymond O'Neill. Its believed that he was born in central Illinois in about 1882. He divorced my great grandmother in about 1921. Family history says that he then took up with a "Bohemian" woman he met at the end of the railroad line. My grandmother had said before she died that she heard it whispered that he and this lady killed her first husband so that they could inherit his house, estate, and car in Wisconsin. We've never heard that they were caught or even if it was true. He had no interest in contacting his family after that so we're unsure of what happened to them. If anyone knows of this man, we would appreciate any information. Thanks, Shannon Busby [email protected]
We have an unsolved mystery in our family. My grandfather, James Wallace Horan Sr. who was born either 1906 or 1909 married my grandmother in 1936 in Chicago IL. He then had a child with her, Patricia born in 1937. He left soon after she was born with no word to my grandmother. He came back later in the year, got her pregnant with my dad who was born in 1938 and then left soon after he was born. He again sent no word as to where he was. He came back in 1940 and got my grandmother pregnant with Richard who was born in 1941 and then left again with no word. He never returned or sent word after this. My grandmother had to divorce him in absentia in 1945. He was never found and never again contacted his family. We would love to know what happened to him. Did he have another family? Did he die? We have never been able to find out what happened to him. Any help would be greatly apppreciated. Thanks, Shannon Busby [email protected]

If it sinks, it is fresh - if it rises to the surface, throw it away. 16) Cure for headaches: Take a lime, cut it in half and rub it on your forehead. The throbbing will go away. 17) Don't throw out all that leftover wine: Freeze into ice cubes for future use in casseroles and sauces. 18) If you have problem opening jars: Try using latex dishwashing gloves. They give a non-slip grip that makes opening jars easy. 19) Potatoes will take food stains off your fingers. Just slice and rub raw potato on the stains and rinse with water. 20) To get rid of itch from mosquito bite: try applying soap on the area, instant relief. 21) Ants, ants, ants everywhere ... Well, they are said to never cross a chalk line. So get your chalk out and draw a line on the floor or wherever ants tend to march - see for yourself. 22) Use air-freshener to clean mirrors: It does a good job and better still, leave a lovely smell to the shine. 23) When you get a splinter, reach for the scotch tape before resorting to tweezers or a needle. Simply put the scotch tape over the splinter, then pull it off. Scotch tape removes most splinters painlessly and easily. 24) NOW, Look what you can do with Alka-Seltzer!! Clean a toilet.- drop in two Alka-Seltzer tablets, wait twenty minutes, brush, and flush. The citric acid and effervescent action clean vitreous china. Clean a vase. - to remove a stain from the bottom of a glass vase or cruet, fill with water and drop in two Alka-Seltzer tablets. Polish jewelry - drop two Alka-Seltzer tablets into a glass of water and immerse the jewelry for two minutes. Clean a thermos bottle - fill the bottle with water, drop in four Alka-Seltzer tablets, and let soak for an hour (or longer, if necessary). Unclog a drain - clear the sink drain by dropping three Alka-Seltzer tablets down the drain followed by a cup of Heinz White Vinegar Wait a few minutes, then run the hot water. 25) If your VCR has a year setting on it, which most do, you will not be able to use the programmed recording feature after 12/31/99. Don't throw it away. Instead set it for the year 1972 as the days are the same as the year 2000. The manufacturers don't tell you. They want you to buy a new Y2K VCR. ----------------------- Internet Header -------------------------------- Sender: [email protected] Received: from mail.fidnet.com (four.fidnet.com [205.216.200.54]) by spamgaae.compuserve.com (8.9.3/8.9.3/SUN-1.3) with SMTP id LAA14954 for <[email protected]>; Tue, 7 Sep 1999 11:33:47 -0400 (EDT) Received: (qmail 2713 invoked from network); 7 Sep 1999 15:33:31 -0000 Received: from rolla-mo-143.fidnet.com (HELO fritz) (206.28.246.143) by four.fidnet.com with SMTP; 7 Sep 1999 15:33:31 -0000 Message-ID: <[email protected]> Reply-To: "Desk of Fritz" <[email protected]> From: "Desk of Fritz" <[email protected]> To: "VK" <[email protected]>, "SB" <[email protected]>, "SA" <[email protected]>, "NB" <[email protected]>, "MS" <[email protected]>, "Madora" <[email protected]>, "NB" <[email protected]>, "LK" <[email protected]>, "Liney" <[email protected]>, "LH" <[email protected]>, "KK" <[email protected]>, "JW" <[email protected]>, "JS#2" <[email protected]>, "JS" <[email protected]>, "JKA" <[email protected]>, "JB#2" <[email protected]>, "JB" <[email protected]>, "IW" <[email protected]>, "GH" <[email protected]>, "ER" <[email protected]>, "EG" <[email protected]>, "DW" <[email protected]>, "DB" <[email protected]>, "CR" <[email protected]>, "CP" <[email protected]>, "Cheryl" <[email protected]>, "BR#2" <[email protected]>, "BM" <[email protected]>, "BJS" <[email protected]>, "BR" <[email protected]>, "DTW" <[email protected]>, "Hank" <[email protected]> Subject: Household Hints that Work [REPEAT] Date: Tue, 7 Sep 1999 10:28:01 -0700 Organization: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: multipart/alternative; boundary="----=_NextPart_000_005C_01BEF91B.A9ABE2C0" X-Priority: 3 X-MSMail-Priority: Normal X-Mailer: Microsoft Outlook Express 5.00.2314.1300 X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V5.00.2314.1300 =================== End Part 1 / Begin Part 2 ===================== % Part 2 is binary ========================== End Part 2 =============================

08/29/99 Ann - I have the book "The Source" and it gives some addresses you can try for researching prison system records. There are many addresses goven, but I believe that these agencies would most likely have information about imprisonment in the Boston, MA area: (For the State of Massachusetts Prison System) Executive Office of Public Safety Department of Corrections Saltonstall Office Building 100 Cambridge Street Boston, MA 02202 (For the Federal Prison System) Bureau of Prisons 320 First Street, N.W. Washington, DC 20534 Good luck in your search! My grandparents --J.H. Hammond and wife Mary ?? (dates on either not known, nor Mary's maiden name). I have tried to locate anything on my grandparent's but keep hitting a brick wall. Here's the story, Please tell me what I can do to locate anything on this family before Jan. 1914 and about the parent's after the children were placed in a orphanage. J.H. & Mary along with 4 children drifted into Atlanta,Ga. either late 1913 or the beginning of 1914. It was reported that they had been going from place to place begging. They claimed to have come from Spring Place,Tn. (Knox Co. outside of Knoxville,Tn) and said that they had no relatives. Mr. Hammond was much older than his wife and at the time of refferal had been to the Volunteer's Of America's shelter at 164 Auburn Ave, the Alms House and the House of Christian Belpura League. He disappeared before the children were refered to the Children's Home Society for placement in Jan. 1914 and was never located. The mother , at the time of referal was staying at the Volunteer's Of America "Shelter" where she did domestic work. I have searched the 1900 & 1910 as well as the 1920 census for Tn. Ga. and surrounding state's but have either missed or they were not on the census. If the parents did not have any relative's as they reported, was this because the relative's were no longer living or could this ffamily have come to America from another country. Or did they mean, they did not have any relative's in or near Atlanta,Ga. ???? Not haveing more detail's about J.H.or Mary Hammond make's it even harder to find them. What did J.H. stand for and what was Mary's maiden name?? And no dates on either does not help what so ever. What happen to J.H. where, why did he disappear after being with his family for at least 14 or so years without a trace?? The date's of birth on the 4 children was guessed at by the orphanage, there was question marks above each child's date of birth. The oldest daughter was said to have been born about 1900 being 13 at the time of placement in orphanage. And the youngest (my father) was said to have been born about 1909 being 5 yrs old. The day and month of my father's birthday, was the day & month he arrived for the very first time at his foster parent's home. So they chose this day & month to celebrate his birthday, this was suggested by a worker from the orphanage who carried my father to his new foster home. I have found 2 of my dad's sibling's families but still searching for the oldest sister's. But I want more than anything to know what happen to my grandparent's. Where and what kind of records would I look for on them. I desperately need your advice as I'm not an expert by no means. Thank You, Pat
Hi - This is my first post - My ggrandfather, William H. O'Connor, MAY have died in prison. We know that he died in Feb. of 1890, and was buried in May of that year, perhaps due to weather conditions. He lived in Boston and South Boston most of his adult life. The informant on his death was my grandfather, Fred Howe, who would have been only 16 at the time. [He later married Wm's daughter, Mary Ann]. Would the prison have notified the family to make arrangements, or how would that have been handled? Wm. was buried in Calvary Cemetery in Boston, but apparently the cemetery has no records of his age, or the undertaker, etc., which is also unusual. Any suggestions? Thanks, Ann Wheeler awheel @directinter.net

Alice, The State library should have some sort of court or inquest records about any accidental or suspicious death. It may take some digging, but there might be newspaper accounts on microfiche. I have not one but two murders committed by family members in my tree(so-called frontier justice). You should see relatives scatter when the subject comes up! Don't let them get you down, or stop you from finding the truth. Those kind of old wounds heal up when exposed to the light! Good luck! Cindy McLaughlin

When I did that, I received a quick reply that that family name was listed in the tiny cemetery records there. Within a few hours, I knew all the details I needed. Its worth a try! Barbara
