    1. [GEN-UNSOLVED-MYSTERIES] I'm back..new address.
    2. Just wanted all of you wonderful people to know that I have changed my e-mail address from: [email protected] to: [email protected] and am still on this list. Many of you have been so wonderfully willing to help in my search quest and I am grateful. I am intriged by your stories as well - and will attempt to help those who I think I have something to offer, anytime! Reminder: Here is my original mystery... still unsolved. NO information found (as of yet) on the following person (but with your help : have found names close to it) but.... ALBION LEE ROWE born : March 9, 1892 in Pensacola, Florida Served in WW1 - army / cavalry Married in the 20's to Anna Murray - maybe in Fla or Texas. He "went out for cigerettes" in 1955 and was never seen or heard from again. No ss#, no death records, can't find him on census (Fla), not on WW1 records (Fla), have never found any exact match anywhere! So odd..... but still hunting.... Any ideas or help continues to be welcomed. Thanks everyone! XOXO Peggy

    1. [GEN-UNSOLVED-MYSTERIES] Re: GEN-UNSOLVED-MYSTERIES-D Digest V99 #135
    2. Jo-Ann- I love watching your postings grow in information and everytime you post something new I get more and more intrigued. I am often silent on this board as my unsloved mystery seems to be of less importance and maybe not (as mentioned) earlier such an "unsloved mystery". It's heartening to see so many people help you search and to know that there are people out there who help so much. It behooves all of us to help and/or support Jo-Ann because we never know when we may need the favor returned. If you are tired of reading her posts then just skip over them or hit delete. If I'm in a hurry I just skim through the postings. As for my mystery, I have had a little bit of information given to me but not much. My grandfather had an uncle named Manning. I started genealogy research on the COCHRANE family and never new he existed until I got copies of the obituaries for that family. I e-mailed the cemetary where all the COCHRANEs are buried and he did have a plot that he bought but he was not buried there. Manning COCHRANE was born in about 1867-1868 in Bushnell, McDonough County, Illinois. The family moved to Lincoln, Nebraska in 1884. On Feb. 7, 1894 he married Olive Ethel MOORE in Lincoln. They had a daughter Ruth COCHRANE who was living in San Francisco, CA in 1950. That is all the info I have. He started a grain business with his dad but then Thomas (his dad) started a Construction company with his other son (my g-grandfather). If anyone has any suggestions or information I'd appreciate it. I'm not sure where to go. Deirdre Zehner Searhcing: COCHRANE, CRESSEY, BEESON, ORME

    2. It was Horn and Hardart. They had a place right outside Grand Central Station near the old Stern's department store. They had the best cheese cake!! Eileen > I recall eating at the caferteria-style restaurants, called HORN & HARDICK, > when I was a girl and we went to New York City. 3. I am going to unsubscribe from the list, but I must first state my reason. I felt sympathy for Jo Ann, but this is becoming too much. I have read thoroughly each of her postings, but I am believing that there is something "fishy" going on here. If I am wrong, I do apologize, but I have a feeling, we are being played as suckers!! I lived in the country where we wore boots for this type of "stuff" So again , read deeper Listers!!

    2. I think everyone should remember if you feel you are getting to many Posts then you can switch to Digest form. Just UnSub from List Mode and Sub to Digest Mode. Not everyone can be as Articulate in their postings as some would like but that Does Not make their posting any less Valuable and No one should be discouraged from Posting, Once or Several times to Get All the Information out that is Necessary. Private Flaming should be forwarded to the List Moderator to let them handle it appropriately. I'm not the List Moderator for this list but feel No One should be treated badly by other list members on the list or Off for Seeking information. If you have any questions or Comments you can Email me at [email protected] Thank you for your Consideration. Tricia

    1. [GEN-UNSOLVED-MYSTERIES] SSDI
    2. I as well have found info on the SSDI. I have recently solved a mystery involving my GGGrandfathers Brother, Frank C. Cameron. No one in our family knew of his existence until I found the 1880 census pertaining to Amos Cameron (my GGG-pa). I not only found him in Texas (where he died), but there is an on-line form that you can print to request the application paperwork that was filled out to receive a S.S. card. I will now be waiting by the mailbox in anticipation!

    3. I wish Jo Ann the best of luck in her search as well, and support her. If it wasn't for the wonderful people out there on these mailing list I may still be in the dark trying to find my father's records and birth family. They helped me solve the puzzle that our family has tried to solve since in 1937. I know that a lot of you are searching for other Unsolved Mysteries, and recieve a lot of email from these list. But I hope & pray that Jo Ann finds the answer's and I appreciate those of you that are so willing to help everyway you possibly can. I watched my father grieve and cry like a baby longing to know a name or to see a picture of his birth family. He died in 1985 at the age of 74 never knowing and grieved till his death. Please let Jo Ann continue to find answer's while she can, she means no harm to anyone. Thank You, Pat

    1. Re: [GEN-UNSOLVED-MYSTERIES] last one today i promise need support
    2. Jo-Ann, I think that whomever is sending you those rude mailings obviously have no feelings nor heart. It seems as though they must have much more information to go on with their research than either you or I do. I wish you the best of luck in your search and hope you find your family soon. My Father and his siblings were raised in an orphanage and what very few people we can find that will talk to us only tell us lies and-or deliberately misleading information. I know it must be so frustrating not knowing who your family is. I know who my birth parents are, (as they raised me)- I just do not know what our REAL Surname is & therefore at this point in time even after all these years of researching, have been unable to locate any information on my Paternal side. So, Jo-Ann: I wish you lots of luck & hope the best for you. Don't get discouraged or give up, keep searching and you WILL succeed. (As will I.) Still Searching

    1. [GEN-UNSOLVED-MYSTERIES] "Gone West"?:
    2. Hello to all, I am wondering if someone can answer my question. Does anyone know what the phrase: {the father having already "gone west"} means? It is in a newspaper clipping from 1923 in the OK. AREA, I think. No name of newspaper on the clipping. The article being about my Grandmothers death & someone trying to get the children put into an orphanage. As the article was not very well written (with words missing & misspelled) along with other typos, the entire article is pretty much unclear in its meaning of what happened to whom & the where & when & why of the entire situation. Does the phrase mean that maybe my grandfather had left the area, leaving the family behind for some reason or that he had already died? {Gone West?} He obviously used several completely different names from Given to Middle to Surname. At least: As best I can tell from the documents & other information that I have gathered over many years, he did. Thinking MAYBE my Grandmother did the same. No luck with requests for Birth or Death Certificates or Location of Burial on either one of them. The children's Social Security Applications, Death Certificates & Delayed Birth Certificates that I have been able to obtain, ALL give conflicting information, including Places of Births for ALL concerned. Right now, I just need to know what that phrase meant back then, so that I can continue with my research-maybe from another angle? Any input would be truly & gratefully appreciated. Thank You from, "Living with Most Probably an Incorrect Surname"
