    3. would the practice of the job fair, perhaps resumed in the era north americans call..the dirty thirties aka great depression. i don't know how the depression effected england, but it certainly created an abundance of workers and a lack of employment here. would the event of ww2 have lessened the surplus of male workers, while subsituting females in "non-traditional" trades in england. it certainly did here. also, even in the 1960's, berry farmer workers collected to chosen to work during the picking season...as a young teen i was thrilled to have such a summer job..well until i found out you couldn't eat all the strawberries while picking..sigh. later roz roz On Sunday, September 10, 2006 10:15 PM, Geo.
